Skunkman's mixed freebies

I have some Sam Skunkman mixed freebies.
I am going to grow these until sexed, keep cuts of the fems, and then they go outdoors. These will be incorporated into a 50 plant OD.

I popped a pack of them into straight coco and in 72 hours I have the group up.

It is obvious to me right off that we have some indica genes in the mix. It is also apparent that there are some thin leaved plants as well.
I will just show them in succession and show how they progress until sexed. Maybe if things work out well, I will finish the thread next fall with some monsters!

A & C are probably the most indica looking of the group, and they both got a touch of burn right off. These are in coco and the only nutes they have seen is 1tsp/gal liquid karma that was used to hydrate the substrate.

D is so far my favorite seedling, as it has a very pronounced purple stalk and is very thin leaved. The first set of leaves on this jewel were three fingered as opposed to the normal single finger leaf.

A was up and out first of the group. It was also from a very huge seed in the pack. I have another pack that looks identical to the first pack as if the mix was placed in one by one individually. I doubt that happened, but you never know..well, I suppose we would know if Sam let us know. (what a killer mix if he did separate and include several lines in each pack!)
In any event, the second pack has a single huge seed identical to the first pack.

I took the above shots just as it looked like the cots were going to start to turn. Sure enough, about a day after those shots some of the cots started to show depletion. It only takes hours for things to happen in straight coco, so I have fed them a bit and will be transplanting them into some FFHF for the duration.
I will show progress every third node or so...

Baba,

I notice you use double cups with holes at the top of the the inner cups. Is there a specific reason for this?

I'm running six of these babies in coco right now as well. Great vigorous plants so far! I have a lot of variation as well! I will check in! Good job!

The reason for the double cups is to provide an overflow. The inner cup has holes on bottom, the outer does not.

The holes on the rim of the inner cup allows spots to anchor LST ties.
I use pipe cleaners for ties.
If you anchor the stalk well, you can start LST on very young seedlings.
With the holes for the ties on the inner cups, I can remove the outer at feeding and feed till runoff. When runoff stops I put it back in. Makes life simple. I will normally leave them in the 16oz blue cups until sexed.
All the plants are now in blue cups like in these shots.

I don't plan to LST any of the Skunkman mix. I want to see what they do eu natural.

Anyone else wants to post up their skunk mix freebie shots feel free to do so.

I just noticed that one of my dead soldier bongs is appearing in one of the top shots.
It is my old gspot hangover that was busted in a serious stoner move. I loved that bong too.

That's a really good idea, and much cleaner. I'm going to use that on my next run. The bottom of my cab is always dirty from run off.

By the way, what's in the older blue cups? They look great.

Sorry to hear about the bong.

lol...I had to go investigate since I had just grabbed the shots at random.
Looks like it was almost exactly two years ago, so those would probably be bubblegum and/or sour bubble.

Here is what I have going atm. There is another that is not pictured. I'm going to repot the last one tomo. I do the same thing with double solo cups, drilled out holes on the inner cups. I am still a rookie though :D

Baba,

I see you're using Coco for this run and it looks like you were running soil (LC mix?) on your previous runs.

My question is have you seen significant differences in your current run with Coco vs. previous runs with soil?

DaPurps,

I'm also curious as to what soil mix you are using.

Thanks for sharing,

Regards,

Newd

I often do things differently. Sometimes I use peat pucks for seeds, and other times I will use RR's. I had a batch of pucks that the pH was out of whack or something and lost two whole packs of seeds last year at this time. I then got on a "cup-o-coco" kick.
Last few batches of seeds I popped, I did them in just straight coco.
Once the seedlings get some roots established in the cup, I transplant them into a larger cup of richer soil mix. I will normally use FFOF, but I have been using FFHF of late. It is a bit less N heavy for youngins than the ocean forest is.

Once they are sexed, I will normally place them in a 2.5 qt pot (or a coffee container) with either straight FF or a 50/50 coco/FF.
When I flower they all go into 2 gal bags of 50/50 coco/FFOF or FFHF

BTW...my germination rate in the coco has been great. So far this year I have popped a total of about 75 seeds with a 100% pop rate. No soak, just hydrate the coco with 1tsp/gal Liquid Karma and put them in about 1/4"-1/2" down, and in 72 hours most all are up and well.

right on, dj. They sure seem as fresh as can be.

I have a couple that are showing very hazy thin leaf traits. I love thin leaf plants. They get me so high. :)

Purps...did I mention that your youngins are looking right nice?
I bet these will produce some real stinky shit if nothing else...

19 days from germination.
A couple show some sign of deficiency that I think came about at the time of transplanting from coco to soil mix.
I also found a couple mites on one, so they are being treated.
I need to get these sexed and keep them going till May so I have topped them all to stall them a bit.
If I were going to bloom these indoors, D would have been in flower already. I'm hopin for a gal. and if so, I am going to give her a special spot. Did I mention I love haze?

Nice use of your freebies! Question. So you are sexing them and then taking clones of the fems, then puttin the clones back to veg? Is that your method? Just wondering because I'll be starting from seed on my next run. Just making sure I got the jest of it. :)

No clones of these. The females will be part of an outdoor grow.
I may take a cut or two if something shows real special....
