Q about heath robinsons grow

Hi, I was wondering if the tilted pots in heath robinsons grow are necessary? Can it be done without tilting the pot? I've never tried it but it seems like the plant will adjust itself but I may be wrong. Any input? Heres a link to his grow.

I believe that link "might" be to someone's desktop document, here is a link to HR 4x4 vertical setup using only 2 (600's) where he harvest 4+ lbs per run. He talks about WHY he tilts the plants and in his run the plants seem to adjust just fine. Also notice Bobblehead JUST started a HR mimicing setup where it looks like he is tilting 3 Gal SmartPots (Airpots?), I think tilted pots will work just fine!

Hey mrktwiz I just spent the last hour reading over HRs grow and dont see anything on why he tilts the pots. Can I do the same thing except with flat racks? Thanks again.

Yes you can do flats colisiums, the tilting is just a little improvement (IMHO) over a flat shelf. their are several guys (including myself) that do stadiums useing flat shelves.

Good luck

Ahhh thats it, a flat coliseum. Thanks, I'm new to vert growing and am soaking up a lot of info here. I'm asking if I can use flat shelves stacked on top of one another because I was thinking about using a storage room that already has shelves so I dont have to make a rack to tilt the pots.

Hey in HRs grow where he said " the internal area is 4 ft x 6ft", does he mean the area INSIDE the grow room and not the whole grow room itself?

I believe that was a inside shelf to inside shelf measurement. I could be wrong.

The reason Heath came up with "angled racks" was very simple due to the fact of all the stadium setups that sprung up at the time with the plants on flat shelves , and everyone havin ta "hack out" the backs of the plants that the lights weren`t getting to causin flarfy bullshit and stealing plant energy from the fronts and tops of the plants , keepin em from bein all they could be.....

With the plants at an angle and pointed dead at the bare bulbs , once the plants were properly pruned inside and underneath , there was no reason whatsoever to "hack out" the backs that directly added increased yield potential from not losing 1/2 the plants......

Plants on an angle get lumen absorption on ALL sides 360 degrees as long as they`re not grown too large to create too deep a canopy side by side , above and below on the walls.....

Hope that helps Boodha......
