How much light is needed when going vert?

I was only repeating what you said in your posts......You quoted yields over folks you knew runnin 50 watts per , but never said you`d "tried" 50 watts per with diminishing returns and went backta 30 ? ........

I know nothing OF you or about you , other than your claims about your yields with 30 watts per sq ft and your custom hoods that caused it , along with your other claims of pullin "even" more than 1.5 gpw`s with your 600 watt setups....

Ran 600`s myself for as long as they`ve been available to control my smaller flop room`s environment ftw......

You da man AS.......Would you do a tutorial on howta copy your success with your setup so we all can grow and prosper ?........

Peace....DHF.....:ying:.....

My successes have been documented and the setup has been shown and explained a few different times here and on other sites but I will be starting a new thread here soon when I start building my new setup. I'll be using the tried and true Grow Tunnel design with a modified Bio-Bucket system. Should be pretty fun so be sure to look for it :D

In the mean time I have no problems talking tech, explaining everything about my systems, and helping you guys with any questions you have. :D

Wow you got a set on ya Mr. Smith. Be safe. Even if I was back in a "med " state I would not be posting videos of any grow on youtube and I sure as fuck would not sleep so good knowing their are images of me and others on the video no matter how obscure but to each his own. Stay safe grow on.:tiphat:

We do this as a job and we are in full compliance with all laws. I build growrooms for customers all the time. I'm not worried about it personally but thanks for the concern :D

Lighting a 4x4 with 400w will give you only 25w/sqft.
Not even close to enough imo. But to each his own.

Your rooms look cool as hell in the vids Agent. They sure look like they have plenty of light. What size lights are those in the vids?

That being said, I can't even imagine how much larf you must be getting from a FLAT grow, with 30w/sq ft. Hard to tell in the vids.

FWIW....50 w/sq ft isn't very difficult to cool at all. I'm cooling 53w/sq ft in an attic with little effort. Bare bulbs and no A/C

I set up a vertical once I got some shelves and put a bunch of plants on it not really thinking that everything at the top was too hot obviously and they hermied. So make sure you have your airflow at the top aswell lol ,,the higher it goes the hotter it gets.. peace out Headband707

Exactly Bobble , but access to plants has ta be an issue in such tight quarters....

Heath`s first racks were with 2-600`s side by side in 4 x 6 x 6 +/- with lil ol door for access runnin 87 plants that ended up over 4 lbs outta nowhere come choptime....

Saw a guy yrs ago build a setup with hinges so he could just unfold his small setups and access all the plants for maintenance and pruning/shaping.....

Many waysta skin a mule.....DHF......:ying:....

lol... yeah, I'm not enjoying my current grow as much as I'd hoped. I'm either going to take out the bins and grow sativas, or monocrop the different levels, and make damn sure the drip lines are perfect... but chopping fans and larf is a PITA. I think a sativa pod is gonna win.

Ok well heres a pic of where I'm at in my ghetto little flower room. Dimensions are 4x6x6.5. I'm still stuck on deciding which light or lights to use and how many plants I can put in there. Those are 2.5 galon pots in there. I dont really want to have to use 2 lights because of the amps it will draw. Theres already a lot of electricity being used in the house. Can some of you give me ideas on how to set up this grow room maximizing my lighting effeciency and space? I kind of want to use a 1000 watt light but it seems like its an over kill because of my room only being 4 feet wide. 600s are out of the question. Its either 2 400s or a 1k in the 4x6x6.5 room. If I cant pull what I should be getting with the 1k light because the space is a little too small, I'd rather stick with 2 400s then. Someone please guide me along and help me set this room up so I can get this thing going.

Hey boodha,
i'm just getting to the end of my 1st grow, 1K in a 5 x 5 x 7 tent, bare vert. it worked great and it's about the same amount of space as you have. $189 got me a 1K, removed the cheap reflector and I was ready to go. I had 9 females in 5 and 7 gallon soil. go for the 1000 my friend, I think it's the simplest, cheapest way to provide plenty of light for lots of dense flowers. when I overgrew my 5x5 I put some plants in a 4 x 4 with a 600 and a closet with 430w of t5 ho's. guess where the nicest flowers are? 1000. When I go from the 1000w tent to the 600 it's a huge difference.

but whatever you decide, get growing! I lurked for too long. it looks like you got a good start there.

If you're going vert, use 2 400's on top of each other in a 4x4... the 1k is too big for your space. 2 600's would be perfect. Heath Robinson pulled 4lbs with 2 600's in the space you're growing. good luck.

If 600`s are outta the question , then your only option ta get closeta optimum lumens is the 1KW even though Bobble`s already said it`s too much light/heat in 1 spot centered in the small area without controlling environment.....but it can be done...

Heath pulled 4 lbs with 2-600`s side by side in the same 4 x 6 area , but with 87 plants+/- on 3 angled levels on all 4 walls.....

A little different than runnin pots on the floor for a "weed doughnut" , so here`s the thing......

Build some small shelves on all 4 walls and hang the 2-400`s on top of each other as Bobble said with high plant numbers flipped straight 12/12 from fully rooted cuts so they won`t grow into each other and choke out competing for light and environment with perfect watts per sq ft with 4 x 4......or....

Hang the 1 KW and only put enough plants around it as can be controlled with lil less than enough watts per , but will prolly do better as stated above by Chunkypigs......Good luck and.......

Peace...DHF...:ying:....
