What the hell Mandala....Speed Queen and Satori review

I

Iron_Lion

I've been sitting on a few packs of mandala seeds, one speed queen and one satori. I grew a few seeds from but decided to bring a few back this year. I ended up with a couple of males and 2 females, 1 speed queen and 1 satori.

Long story short, the speed queen is good bud quality, ridiculously low yield (600w vertical, 30 day veg, 2 gal pot) and it will be a 1/4oz at best, and it is now going on week 13 and still isn't done. Really low yield seems to be the norm with SQ, I grew some a few years ago and 1/4 oz per plant was the norm, its not grower skill either all the other plants are killer. It is also worth mentioning every female has been different.

Next disapointment was satori, I got a couple nice females first time I grew them. This time I got total hemp, leafy garbage, no trichs, airy buds. It was on wk 13 it, was so shitty I cut it down just so I didnt have to look at it anymore. This plant is horrible and honestly its not even right to get something this bad in a pack of seeds you had to pay for. And same as speed queen, every female I have had has been totally different.:moon:

Moral of the story, mandala genetics really ruined my grow and drastically reduced my final yield. Im used to getting 2.25 - 3oz per plant so I'd say having these 2 taking up space I lost a minimum of a quarter pound.

Usually I dont write negative reviews, but since 2 strains were a total waste of time I feel peeps have the right to be aware of such issues.

Thats just sad, I was going to get a few of their strains. I'v heard glowing reports from others about Satori, big yeild but mediocre smoke.

My seeds are from 2007 I dont know if that makes a difference, I know satori has been tweaked since then, better or worse Im not sure.

I had their hashberry and it was a great yielder and some dank but that was back in like 07. Sorry you got that BS bro. But I did get some safari mix freebies that weren't really worth the time and space. Maybe Mike been drinking too much bhang lol. Keep it sticky fam

thanks for the review

we had 1 pheno of SQ, was very much like you describe, wouldn't finish, but the other 5 were ok and good yield. 4 were quite similar with a strange perfume smell with average potency, and a lime green citrus pheno that was very good. the citrus pheno I would grow again

What a shame... When I grew Satori (I think in 2008) I had great success. Tall plants with big buds - 9-10 weeks (better at 10) flower time and nice potency.
I lost the best mother 1 1/2 year ago and I'm still missing her.

Bad luck Iron Lion - but you know this can happy with pretty much any strain. The hassle i've had with DJ short phenos!

I liked Satori a lot the first time. The last two packs i've had issues germing. Not sure if I'm willing to try again. It's nice, but it's no c99.

Did you take any pics of that "hemp" looking plant I.L. I'd really like to see how bad it was for you.

Ran speed queen in late 08 early 09, also thought it super sucked.
Satori was airy for me as well, but smoked and tasted great

my experience of satori is stellar. great germ rates, huge yield, and subtly blissful smoke. Not as strong as some other strains but defiantly more enjoyable. sounds like your seeds were old thus the poor results. if you bought them in 07 they could have been sitting on the shelf even longer unless you bought them directly from mandala.

I didnt take any plants when it was alive but here is some close ups from the drying plant, it looks a little better now that it has dried but what is hard to tell from the pic is how absolutely dreadfrul the bud structure is, and the small buds are complete junk. here is close ups from the main bud on the plant.

As a serious grower you should know that Mandala don't sell any old seeds. They can guaranteed you ,a good fresh seeds,if you plant them asap that's good, but not after decades.

Thanks dude, yeah I've seen better stuff for sure. My Satori took a long time to start making trichs too but when she did start, she ended up being pretty frosty. Sorry you didn't have a good result that's never any fun after all that time and work!

Sitting in the fridge doesnt make genetics turn bad, bad genetics are bad genetics. And when everything else in the room is dank, including plants from other seeds that have been in storage for equally as long there really isnt an excuse. I just got a really shitty pheno, and Im bummed space got wasted and now Im a QP short.

now with that said here is a pic from the same pack, different plant grown a few years ago, better pheno.

Dunno, are you buy them directly from Mandala or reseler?

I forget where I got them but they were in breeder packaging. I was really hoping to find some nice plants like I had years ago, but oh well live and learn.

Received my beans March 2010 from the Boo. Results below were typical - I am happy. I have seen fair number of Satori grows on here with leafy buds and long flowers - makes me scratch my head. Did not get that out of my pack. Mine seemed perfect at 69 days flower from seed (3 week veg). Pleasure to grow - pleasure to manicure.
