Moving and setting up in Spain.

Buenas tardes! my fellow EU friends. I am looking to make the move to your beautiful country sometime in 2012. I'm from Ireland and there isn't much going for anyone living here at the moment and the increasing security situation doesn't make thing's easy, police everywhere ect.


What exactly is the situation with cannabis growing in Spain? From what I gather from the internet, your allowed to grow for your own personal use but there is no number defined for personal use.

I'm also unsure about location, I'd like to move somewhere on the coast, I have to have water , maybe Malaga. How are rent charges? I'll have around E35,000 - E45,000 to play with.

How many lights/plants do you guys run? I'd like to run 8K but 4K would be enough. I will be moving over there on my own as well so I hope to make some friends, the Mrs isn't going to come with me, she understand's that cannabis comes number 1, sad I know but if it was up to her I'd not have 1 plant. Spain is a beautiful country and I can't wait to get my ass over there. Sorry for all the questions, hope to see you sooner rather than later. :

So, you want to move to Spain to grow indoors and you are leaving the mrs behind?

I think it would be easier to find a secure building in your own city/country than making that move. Now, if you are planning on doing something outdoors that you just couldn't pull off in Ireland due to the weather, security, etc, I could understand the plan a little more.

Don't get me wrong, I love Spain. And its the one place in Europe that the mrs said she would move to. But indoor grows can be pulled off anywhere, imo. And don't go bet the farm that things will automatically be easier for you in the land of Don Quixote.....

el dub - Thank for your reply bro. I'm not moving to Spain for cannabis growing alone. The climate over here is undesirable to say the least. There's a bomb's going off weekly, I have had to move my grow house several times in the past 2 years because of the security situation. Trouble just follows me around it seems. I've been looking to make the move to Spain for a few years now, 2012 would be right for me. I'll have enough funds to finally do it.

The girlfriend might be persuaded to move over with me yet, I'll just have to talk her around. There is nothing for me in Ireland anymore I've had enough of it.

Sorry to hear about the situation in ireland at present.

Spain is a great country. (I spent six months in Galicia during college and also have traveled the country with my wife and father-in-law awhile back. Make some local connections as soon as you figure out where you want to end up and things should go easier for you.

my god youv read my mind! lol... im doing the exact same thing mate, in 2012 aswell... already lost the missus due to growing so nothing stopping me, plus a mate moved their last year, tel ya i can not wait!

havent decided which part yet tho.. been doing some research n looks like you can grow as much as you want in your own home n its legal.. only way they stop you is if a neighbour complains about you... or you get cought with more than i think 3oz on you in the street... cnt ask for more than that can ya!

aparently its in their constitution that their allowed to do anything within their own home.. sorta like an englishesmens home is his castle crap..

this is my retirement plan. im trying to build up enough scratch to make the move to southern spain. i went there for my honneymoon it was awesome. gypsies selling hash everywhere. then stealing everything in sight.

Thats not true...
Consumition of any kind of drugs in private places is legal...(house,private clubs)
Growing, planting weed is ilegal,,,, u can go to the court...
Possesion is ilegal,,, and u can have a ticket about 300€ to 6000€....

Is the double sense of our drug politics,,, u can consume in private places but u cant carry or planting?¿?¿

Still the south is a nice area for living... andalucia is amazing....

Made the move several weeks ago,sitting in the sun at the moment beside the pool drinking a cuppa,hopefully going to be growing a plant or two outdoors shortly,might do a decent indoor,come on down and join the party.

Thanks for all the comments. I want to live on the southern coast, I'll just have to learn as much Spanish as possible before I make the move, I'll enquire about Spanish lessons tomorrow.

Hundred,I was told several days ago my local college do 26 hours of spanish lessons a month for only 20 euros,cant argue with that,I am enrolling when I have time.
Made a few quid last year from growing,got an offer it would have been churlish to refuse,and here I am in the sun,glad I made the move to be honest,already thinking of selling up in blighty,lets just see how this season pans out before I burn that bridge,hope things work out for you,be lucky.

Very interested in this too. No desire to live in the uk for very much longer and Spain seems to be one of the best options. Much better weather and chilled out people.
