Help me maximize yield with a 5.5x5.5x8 closet

Hey guys!!! I'm flowering out 2 island sweet skunk cuts right now, with about 8 weeks to go. I want to have an idea of supplies and money I'll need to upgrade the room, so I'm planning now.


I want to maximize yield in here. Money isn't an issue to a reasonable extent. I want to run hydro. The room is not wired for electricity.


Those are my constraints. Some input would be greatly appreciated, whats the most weight I could get out of this room? Undercurrent??? Thanks!!

Hi Chris.

What equipment do you have right now and what light are you using?

Are you planning any specific method/style of growing? i.e. vertical versus horizontal?

Have you considered your light and how to dissipate the heat and cool the room - any preferences?

I would go with:

Digital (adjustable) 1000w
- I say adjustable because there my be days when your temp is hard to control and you can just press a button or turn a dial and instantly 1000w turns to 600w and the heat output drops dramatically.

Is there a reason you are settled on Hydro as opposed to soil? I prefer organic soil. You can yield in the same time window and don't have to worry about nozzles, pumps, hoses, feeder lines clogging with roots etc.

I also choose soil for 1 main reason - low maintenance. Last time i tried hydro, i had 3 diff digital meters, trays, silly rocks that are just best thrown away than cleaned and re-used. And then i made a mistake of over nuting and i swear it must have been 15-20 minutes by the time i came back to find everyone all curled up and on their death beds.

So before you really decide what you are doing for a light, we need to know how you plan to dissipate heat build up to know what wattage of light you can use.

Running hydro so I can really dial the strain in , want multiple runs. I'm running a DWC 18gallon tote with 250 hps, 400cfm inline for heat, passive intake. The temps outside closet are never above 74, I like my house cold. Maintenance is not an issue for me, and I'm essentially sold on running in hydro again. I've never seen such explosive growth in any of my previous soil runs.



Like I said, money isn't that much of an issue. I'll buy whatever inline fan/hood you guys think would be best. I am open to running a stadium/vert for sure

I'd throw each in it's own dwc rubbermaid tote and hang a 600w hps vertical or stack 2 400's...grow them up opposing walls and drop the light in the middle. That's what I'd do.

I helped a patient setup a 5x5x8 closet and he got over 2lbs using 4 totes and 2x 400w hps, the bulbs hung horizontally "in" the canopy, open bulb... I consider it vertical. He overvegged quite a bit and had a high yielding strain though. All plants were fimmed like crazy and he had about a 1 foot thick canopy when he flipped to 12/12

If you're already flowering you might want to wait to do vert next roung so you can veg them better.
