What kind of bottled water to use?

I want to try to use an alternate water source for cloning. I suspect my tap water has too much chlorine and has been causing clones not to root

Distilled water? Spring water?

Could I just boil the water?

I use RO water the whole 14 days if they even take that long to root since I average 5-10. I have horrible tap but the cheap RO filter does the trick. I used to use Arrowhead for my aero cloner and it worked just fine.

use the distilled water with seeds & seedlings! never had an issue. should be fine with clones!

Just let it sit, chlorine dissipates in 24 hours. If you drink it, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work for rooting.

Try poking through CLONERS- a collection of various methods There are too many ways to root successfully to stick with a method that's giving you grief.

yea bro, check out the perlite wick cloner. was having a lot of issues with clones yellowing up, or me just forgetting to keep the plug wet. the perlite cloner is awesome, just throw the clones in there, change the water every few days, and in 10-14 days you got a lotta roots

i have cloned 10,000+ clones in rapid rooters or similar type plug using the same procedure, clonex, etc.

New op and clones are absolutely KILLING me.

The only variable seems to be the water. The strain is new to me as well, but the donor was a newb and he had great success getting these to root.

So before I change methods, I am going to switch the water.

I would let water sit out but sometimes I need it right away

Some of your clones may be getting an air bubble in the stem where you cut. Cloning gels can help prevent this.

for 2 years I have used the same procedure in 2 different locations, cutting, trimming leaves, dipping in clonex, domes, heat 95+% success rate

ONLY variable here is new op, new environment, and different tap water

I doubt I am getting air bubbles now.

I changed some other things recently. Turned off bathroom exhaust fan to get room temp from 71 to 77,, and to raise RH. keeping domes off unless clones wilt. I got some to root out of the last batch, rest still look very good. The fan may be the solution

looks like the dome was the issue.

Clones in rockwool never got a dome and they are starting to rot, 2 out of 20ish and they all look real healthy. maybe 50% in the trays with the plugs. The plugs got covered at night sometimes, but were left open as long as possible until they started looking wilted
