The Plant That Saved The World

What would you do if someone handed you a pile of seeds and said...

this plant could produce enough oil and ethanol to domesticate our energy sources?

this plant could make clothes that would last 5 times longer than cotton.

this plant could build a house without concrete which is terribly energy wasteful...

this plant could provide nearly all the nutrition a human needs to survive...

this plant could be harvested multiple times a season in warmer climates...

this plant could replace all petroleum based plastics...

this plant was something so easy to grow it grew itself despite the gardener...

would you grow this plant....

would you spread the seed far and wide...

would you seek to educate the people unaware of this glorious plant...

The world today has problems...

The number one problem which is the root of nearly all other problems is energy...

our need for energy is nearly as strong as our need for food and water, thing is its you can see all the water and food.

energy these days is hidden underground as oil, instead of above in the form of wood.

Now i dont believe in christianity or any other religion for that matter, i believe "god" lies within each and everyone of us, most just dont use the power that is within.

regardless i like to quote the bible as many who like to prosecute users of this plant are bible beaters....

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall speak lies of hypocrisy commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (Paul: 1 Timothy 4:1-3)

"Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; that which cometh out of the mouth defileth a man." (Mat. 15:11)

(Cannabis is mentioned in Ex. 30:23 but King James mistranslated it as 'sweet calamus') :
Moreover, the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even 250 shekels, and of qaneh-bosm [cannabis] 250 shekels, 24 And of cassia 500 shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: 25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy anointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. 26 And thous shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, 27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick ahd his vessels, and the altar of incense, 28 And the altar of burnt offerings with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot. 29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy. (Exodus 30:22-29)

* As one shekel equals approximately 16.37 grams, this means that the THC from over 9 pounds of flowering cannabis tops were extracted into a hind, about 6.5 litres of oil. The entheogenic effects of such a solution -- even when applied topically -would undoubtedly have been intense.

this plant that many of us grow is the plant that will save the world...

problem is its illegal...

what will you do to change that...

it could be the most important thing you do...

i want this generations legacy to be one of reasonable and realistic sustainability...

im only 21 years old and i have alot of life left in me, and im scared...

scared our species is destroying itself in the name of profits...

Hemp might save us it might not, but it sure could help...

end rant. if you read this far thank you, but now do something, donate time, money, or energy to promoting the intelligent discussion of legalizing industrial hemp..

dont be afraid

step one

dont feed the fear

step two

increase communication among the youth

a lot of people feel the way you do but the energy is never organized and funneled in the right direction

people have to demand it, demand more communication among each other. the internet and social networking are huge pushes for sharing information. We also have to demand it with our collective buying power...money fn talks man so damn true its scary...if enough people stopped buying gasoline and products made with it and collectively raised their fists too the oil companies..shit would flip in a week..believe it..

if we all stop buying the crap it wont exist..but the truth hurts, we all buy into it, we all take the bait, we all eat the cheese...

so how can we change it?

keep talking to people your age, discuss it..lets discuss ways cannabis and hemp advocates can be taken more seriously..encourage other smokers to be diligent and honest and figure out a way they can best represent their cause with real facts and ideas($olutions) to back it up.

:ying: again what ever you do, dont feed the fear, flip that energy into action

I've been told repeatedly that nobody gives a shit about hemp.

I was crucified in the 19 thread for suggesting hemp should be a seperate issue... one I felt should have been addressed first.

Such a drastic change for our commerce and agricultural industry would benefit us much more economically and realistically.

Beware that some will tell you that hemp just makes itchy clothes nobody wants to wear.

I know better... but some do not.

I figure the faster we make plastics from renewable resources the better off we will be.

Call me crazy... you won't be alone :D

Hemp yeilds up to four times as much fiber as the same acreage of forest.

Plus you don't have to wait years and years for it to be harvestable.

maybe the companies are bent on destruction

or they are creating artificial scarcity to better control markets

there has to be a snake like business reasoning for hemp being illegal..its the obvious superior fiber

I really think we should be focusing on collective buying power and how hemp advocates can be taken more seriously..

I wonder how much it would cost to put together a nice professional website and then promote it nationally over the television and radio...

all you need is for people to actually see the tremendous benefits of the plant

truth speaks volumes but most people really don't know the truth as there has never been a well organized national campaign for industrial hemp...

Environmentally, hemp is a safer crop to grow than cotton. Cotton is a soil-damaging crop and needs a great deal of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.

Hemp fibers are longer, stronger, more absorbent and more mildew-resistant than cotton.

*When US sources of "Manila hemp" (not true hemp) was cut off by the Japanese in WWII, the US Army and US Department of Agriculture promoted the "Hemp for Victory" campaign to grow hemp in the US.

*Construction products such as medium density fiber board, oriented strand board, and even beams, studs and posts could be made out of hemp. Because of hemp's long fibers, the products will be stronger and/or lighter than those made from wood.

A 1938 Popular Mechanics described hemp as a "New Billion Dollar Crop." That's back when a billion was real money

The US State Department must certify each year that a foreign nation is cooperating in the war on drugs. The European Union subsidizes its farmers to grow industrial hemp. Those nations are not on this list, because the State Department can tell the difference between hemp and marijuana.

Hemp growers can not hide marijuana plants in their fields. Marijuana is grown widely spaced to maximize leaves. Hemp is grown in tightly-spaced rows to maximize stalk and is usually harvested before it goes to seed.

Hemp grows well in a variety of climates and soil types. It is naturally resistant to most pests, precluding the need for pesticides. It grows tightly spaced, out-competing any weeds, so herbicides are not necessary. It also leaves a weed-free field for a following crop.

I hear you, whodare.

Hemp would be a powerful "re-discovered" renewable resource of tremendous economic value, without doubt. (R.I.P. Jack Herer) And for a post-industrial, or at least post-petroleum economy, hemp could be a cornerstone of the economy.

My only concern would be the potential genetic damage done to cannabis as a medicinal herb of great importance to alleviate the corporatist poisoning of the environment, which affects us all. Just how large a negative impact would hemp pollen blowing in the wind affect superior cannabis production?

Imagine the expensive technical means that would be required to prevent hemp pollen from contaminating cannabis plants -- sealed and hepa-filtered greenhouses equipped with low air pressure vestibule chambers, fitted with showers, and requiring "bunny suits".

Hopefully, the DEA and the bevy of other allied prohibitionist forces would not consider such a scenario as a means of sabotaging our beloved psycho-active medicinal cannabis. OTOH, Big Pharma has the deep pockets to establish such high-tech greenhouses, and the law on their side regarding limiting access to medical cannabis. Considering the DEA's history of spraying paraquat for cannabis eradication, I'm certain that they already have other top-secret government eradication measures either on the drawing boards or else already in practice. That is in their fascistic nature.

:tiphat:

[On reflection, I suppose that planting primo cannabis genetics instead of hemp might be the counter tactic of a green revolution ... ] :)

great counter points dave...

those would be challenges we certainly want to solve...

i would think pollen is a risk but what is the life-span or viability of pollen after traveling open air.

or maybe we would stay indoors for cultivation, i mean with the clean energy we would be making we can feel better about using thousands of watts.

extracts and concentrates will be where medicine ends up because it is the safest and best way to ingest so if the bud has a few seeds it wont be in your medicine...

not like we have to grow those accidental seeds either.... though breeders are now posed with a serious problem...
