Today is the saddest day i've had in over 13 years.
My 9 month old doberman chocked to death on raw meat.
We where doing the raw meat diet thing he chocked to death.
It happen in front of my teenage girl so sad.
My wife is taking it real hard she loved that pup we all did.
This dog was every thing i ever wanted in a dog a friend.
I'm setting in my grow room crying wishing he was hear he was my only friend ever to be here with me i sure will miss him.
R.I.P. ZAKK WE'LL MISS YOU.

I am so sorry to hear that, I don't know what I would do in that situation. That must be so hard to deal with. I love my dogs so much, I couldn't imagine how must feel. I wish you and the family the best!

When the time is right, go to a shelter and find another friend...you'll be saving one from another untimely death.

If it ever happens again try to open the dogs mouth and stick your fingers right down his throat and grab the meat out, I've done this to dogs and cats.

I always thought If I was faced with it, I would try what Indian Culture suggested, and jam my hand down their throat in an attempt to remove the blockage.

raw diet is the best food you can feed your dog. better then any dry bag dog food.

what kind were you feeding? curious cuz im about to put my shepherds on raw diet

Raw Diet might be to *some* the best diet for dogs but without being the dick here the dogs meat should have been cut in chunks that can be swallowed as they do not chew their teeth are for crushing bones and their k-9's ( 4 front teeth ) are for protection, so the meat should be cut into quarter size pieces so it will fit down their throat.

My sincere condolences for your loss and any pet you lose is a part of you that dies with it.

i feed the dry food ,i was told raw meat will give your dor a taste for blood and that might not be a goodd thing ,but what do i kno but im gonna stick with the dry food

so very sorry to hear of your loss pizza guy, Zakk was a beautiful dog and was fortunate to have owners who really cared (all bundled up) for him deeply. I'm also sorry your daughter saw this happen. You'll know when the time is right to buy or rescue another puppy, I'm thinking that like pitbulls plenty of dobies wind up in shelters even as puppies.

Thanks everyone it is sad but things are getting better but still miss him.
We sure did learn a valuable lesson we now grind the raw meat and we feel safer.
We still have 3 dogs 2 spca finds and a white lab {shes 12} ZAKK was a gift to me from my wife and kid i allway wanted a red dobe and he came from campion blood very sweet
dog and smart.When it happen me and the wife where up in a feild at the top of my land
and my kid was feeding and we would feed the dogs out side since we where feeding raw anyway why ZAKK was eating she went to feed the ducks and when she came back to
the barn he was chocking she tryed hiemlicking him and screamed for us We heard
her and came running and i can run but by the time i got there he was not breathing and i had to use pliers to reach the meat we tryed cpr but was to late. It was truely one of
the saddest days of my life the whole family s for that matter. As far as chopping up the meat we did but not small enough i geuss but if ya read about the raw diet is great for your pet and when they eat the bones it cleans the teeth and so we would let the chunks alittle big and we been feeding two of are dogs like that for awhile.
So now we grind it up like hamburger. I'm going to get another dobe This summer we know a great breeder that has a liter do in like two weeks. But we sure miss ZAKK.
He was the greatest dog ever to me he was only 9 1/2 month old so young.

It hurts to lose a loved one... unfortunately, something I an very familiar with. Agape' to you. Maybe save one and rescue it from euth someday in the future.
