Sealed Room, c02 2000ppm at night??! Why?

I am running a AC cooled sealed room set up. Propane CO2 burner is controlled by a Sentinal CHHC-4 and obviously set to not run during night cycle. I have the CO2 set at 1250 with a 250 threshold. During the day everything operates great. CO2 fills up and is slowly used by the plants. It clicks on every couple hours fills back up and repeats.

Im concerned that at night the constant CO2 is around 1800-2000. Is this just the plants off gassing the CO2 during night cycle? It seems very high to me. From what I have read CO2 at night isnt going to do damage but im just wondering is it normal for the plants to put off this much C02 at night. Is it possible its a Sentinal Calibration issue?

I should mention I am battling root aphids right now and about 30% of the plants have been slightly damaged. Aphids (i think) are all gone as of yesterday.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey bud thats normal, I used to run sealed rooms in FL and thats what happens during the night period.. Dont worry grow on! very lucky you got yourself sealed up :) best shit ever.

make sure you check your levels as soon as you go into the room. a few minutes in there and you will raise it to 2000 or above.

Thanks I actually checked that 1800 when I walk in and up to 2000 a few minutes later. Seems like its just something that happens with sealed room. If it doesnt hurt anything doesnt bother me. Thanks again

MJ does NOT use CO2 lights off , but rather shits out what it didn`t use during lights on , and thats why your ppm`s are risin lights off from the plants shittin out what they could`nt absorb lights on....

Whether or not you walk in the area`s inconsequential from breathing out CO2.....minimal additions @ 200 added ppm`s when they`re not using it.......

Plants exhaust CO2 during lights off....not all the time...indoors in controlled environments.....We`re not talkin bout outdoor grows......Please show me otherwise.....

It's just the plants, totally normal and nothing to worry about.

You may want to try raising your CO2 levels during lights off to kill those aphids or w/e

It's been said that levels 10,000 ppm + will kill most any insect that breathes. Be sure to exhaust it before the lights come back on though, might take a few doses to be completely rid of em (eggs hatching).

If the lights are on you'll pwn your plants, so don't do that either.

Cheers

Running a sealed room myself and tripped at the 2000+ CO2 lights off...

Then realized its only 2000 parts per million so there's lots of oxygen for the lights off respiration

based on this from ehow.com (google plant respiration) it would seem likely that they are always giving off both at differing amounts depending on light intensity.

"Timing affects what a plant produces. At night there is no way for photosynthesis to occur, so the plant only gives off carbon dioxide. During cloudy days or low light, the two processes are about even, and they cancel each other out. But during sunny days, plants give off more oxygen than carbon dioxide"

Stinky...Bro.....There ARE no "differing amounts" of light intensity in indoor grow environments.....No cloudy or low light days with HPS or MH lighting ........So.....

As I said above......Plants uptake CO2 lights on , and shit out what they did`nt use lights off......Have witnessed it for over 15 yrs with CO2 monitors in every room I ever ran.......

Not speculation or hearsay.....First hand experience........Plants eat CO2 and shit Oxygen AND excess CO2 not used...Outside.......That`s how humans and all air breathing animals are ableta exist on planet Earth....

Inside is a controlled environment we create.......Thus why CO2 ppm`s rise lights off cuz of the excess the plants are shittin out from not being absorbed lights on....

It's actually a lot more involved than you describe. Plants are actually breathing in oxygen and combining it with the sugars that they made during the day, throughout the day and night and one of the byproducts is often CO2. Yes they make WAY more oxygen during the day and use a ton of CO2 to make sugars, but they are using those same sugars to grow and thus breaking them back down and giving off many different compounds, including CO2. During the day(lights on) it would not be noticeable, but at night no CO2 is getting converted into sugars, thus yielding a slightly higher CO2 level.

Peace Out on this topic

Thanks Stinky....OP was about rising ppm`s lights off and from what I`ve seen over the yrs , I was only giving laymen`s terms explanation for weed and what happens inside lights off , not outside.......

I`m sure there`s all sorts of chemical reactions going on at all times of the day lights on or lights off , but as a whole in laymen`s terms , Plants uptake CO2 and exhaust Oxygen right ?......

The excess CO2 not used by the plants are exhausted during lights off thus why the ppm`s were way high during lights off right ?......

Take care....DHF....:ying:....

I've been doing sealed rooms for a couple years with a co2 gen and always thought it was the pilot giving off co2 at night. The night time build up should give your gen a head start when lights come on thus not emptying your propane tank faster.
