Cloneing problems!!

Not even sure I can spell it but I've had nothing but cloneing problems, I finally found the "how to" tutorials and between them and just reading other threads on the art of the clone, I've figured out it was a ambient temperture problem partnered with stingy cuttings,. Anyway I relocated the cloneing cabinet to a warmer climate and i've got roots on 2 plants out of 21, i had also did several different styles of preparations on the cuttings i did aeroponicly I gently pulled the lowest leaf off and peeled a little skiff of skin all the way to the bottom of the cutting seemed to do best, but i still had the lowest node inside the neoprene disc. Some of the stems are starting to rot on the bottoms. The cuttings still look great topside, real green upright just healthy looking. they been in the cloner since feb. 26. Can I snip the rot off and still expect roots if i put the nodes below the discs? Is there something that refreshes your cloner solution for stuborn plants without replacing everything.

You say that you've relocated the cloning operation to a warmer environment. Is it just a warmer place, or are you heating the water in the cloner? If the tops are warm but the roots cold, you aren't encouraging root growth. If the water in the cloner isn't heated you should place an aquarium heater in there. Upper mid seventies Fahrenheit is good.

just a warmer place, the pump seems to keep the solution warm. the room i had the cloner in was not heated at all, and was getting down about 50 degrees f. at night but the tube lights was keeping the surface of the cloner about 72, but the 5 hours the lights were off it was getting pretty chilly, i looked in the box this evening and another sprouted, it's such a miracle to me how fast the roots can grow when they decide to,I think there gonna go, I'm keeping the faith.

Yeah perhaps invest in a heating mat that is really a great tool or cloning in colder climates peace out Headband707

Also run your lights 24 hours and you will see a difference but your medium should be at a temp. between 75 & 80 degrees and air temp should be 68 to 73 degrees.Don't over saturate your grow medium and you should have a better success rate! You can get shown the light in strangest of places if you look at it right! GD

I'm with jay about the temps.

As to media saturation, it depends on the system. The OP mentions neoprene pucks which suggests a media free system. I use rockwool in a bubbler where 100% saturation at all times is key. Soil or coco methods prefer being simply moist rather than dripping wet.

FreezerBoy hows your success rate with the bubbler system? I never had good success with rockwool, I am currently using jiffey cubes by advance nutrients and they work so well I bought a case for the coming season ! can't wait for the summer sun...:canabis:

rapid rooters are the way to go. theyre far less complicated, cheaper, and i usually get 100% success rates. only needing to worry about how moist it was, ambient temp, lighting, and rh.

89 - 90 degrees? From what others who are more experienced have written about this previously, that is probably a little warm for optimum root growth. I try to keep mine between 75 and 80 and have good success. And this is just being heated by the room and the heat from the pump? I'm not sure how you'd bring it down 10 degrees unless you could place it upon an uninsulated surface like a concrete floor. But if you're getting better growth than previously, then maybe it is best to just enjoy your success.

I closed off the heater vent in the room and put a small fan on the box, it brought it down almost 10 degrees. i have 3 more that rooted and did toss a couple out so only have about 7 left in the box. Moms ready to be cloned again!!! I talked to a guy on here about cleaning the cloner between attempts, I had read you use a little bleach to disenfect it mixed with water but he said he only uses clorinated tap water, we have floride in are water here also, anyway I'm ready to go again, We usually put a few plants outdoors on mothers day so I've got plenty of time,
