Wanderful plants with good setup !!! Satori has a special high. now you can taste them :). Good smoke man

Super grow Hush!

Satori does respond well to LST - I usually do it a bit during veg, and then again during the stretch. LSTing during stretch can give a very solid canopy, but will definitely produce many smaller buds rather than large colas.

However, with the right phenome, I think huge yields are achievable. I did SCROG one under a 600W HPS last year and got 12 oz in soil. Not a huge lot until you consider thet the canopy was only about 0.6 to 0.7 square metres - I was wasting half of my light!

It's also worth being patient and holding off for that extra week or ten days at the end as the difference to the taste and aroma is quite marked.

Hey, thanks you guys, very much. :)

I've stopped picking lower buds to smoke, since all the lower fluff buds are gone now. I left them there specifically for some early samplers. But now I will let the plant finish. I just picked up a bag to get me through the next couple of weeks. :D

I have no new pictures, since I got home late tonight and the plants are in darkness now, but I checked on them earlier today. I drained the res and filled with pH-adjusted tap water 4 days ago, and I can already see the plant ripening. The few fan leaves that are left are now turning yellowish red. The buds are gaining a reddish purple color. And I'm seeing more and more amber crystals every day.

I think what I am going to do this time around is harvest the tops on day 70 or so, when the amber to cloudy ratio is about 1:2, and then leave the lower buds that aren't for another week or so, when the ratio is more like 1:1. That way I'll be able to see if Satori can offer a more balanced, relaxing high than what I typically get from harvesting at the recommended time. But going longer ought to make it better, I'm guessing.

It took me forever to type this post! I've gotten so used to the clear-headed Satori high over the last few days, that this indica hybrid I'm smoking right now is making me stupid! I love it!! :D

Okay I snapped some pictures tonight. This is officially day 70. I was planning on harvesting, but I think they can go a few more days. We'll see. There aren't enough amber trichomes yet for my liking. But the buds look beautiful, and now that the nutes are being flushed out, their colors are coming out. Here are the pics:

I don't want to be an a hole but it looks like your light is oriented thr wrong direction if it is a rectangular space. IMHO

I'm honored that you used your first post on me. But yes, I know that it would be better going the other direction... the problem is this is a very small space, and it won't fit that way. It doesn't accomodate the ducting. The space is only 30" x 16". Since I'm cramming a 250 into such a small space, there is plenty of light being reflected off the walls and stuff.

Sorry, I didn't, know the depth was so little. Nice plants regardless of the orientation. Bit over 75 watts per square foots definitely allows for some inefficiency due to lamp orientation. Side wall reflected light is fine as long as your ammonium nitrate level is not over about 15% of total nitrogen. Over that percentage reeks havoc on pH by constantly lowering it.

Not trying to high jack your post so I will just stay quiet and wait to hear what your total dry yield works out to per square foot.

I enjoy growing most of Mandela's strains, especially the Indica dominants.

Thank you thank you!

I have turned off the light and the plants are going to stay in darkness now. I'll harvest in a few days. I had to do this, so I could get the new reflector in there, along with the new Lasko blower. Everything is ripening fast now!

Here are some more shots from today, day 73:

I just want to say that I've had the new Lasko blower in there for a few days now... and the thing is freaking QUIET!!! I got so used to the loud noise the Dayton 265cfm was making, but now that this thing is there the difference is night and day! I even have it on its lowest setting, which makes it that much quieter. It is a fanstastic fan!

Okay, I'm probably harvesting later tonight. Stay tuned...

HOW"D IT GO??

those fans are great cause once you get the filter on the out end, it acts like a silencer. At one point i was running 2 and could still sleep next to them .

Well since you asked, it went well!! Er, well it is going well. Still. I spent 4 hours last night harvesting and manicuring, and that only got me about half done, so I'm finishing up tonight. I took a few pictures already, and I'll be taking more. But for now, here are a few pics from right after taking the DWC tub out of the closet:

So, I eventually got tired, and here is what I had to leave for today:

IMG_4413.jpg

Here are the buds that have already been cut, manicured, and hung:

IMG_4415.jpg

The smaller buds off each branch are going onto that wire tray, and the rest of the branch is hung upside down. I gotta get back to work now... I'll take more pics and post them when done.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... I want to touch on the aroma of this plant, or at least this pheno... the smell is just, WEIRD! I'm actually not sure if I like it. After 4 hours of trimming I almost felt like I was sickened by the smell, which has never happened from harvesting fruitier or skunkier smelling strains. It's just a very complex, very spicy smell. It's gonna take some getting used to. I never had them smell (or look) like this when I grew them in soil. I'm definitely becoming a better gardener!! :D

I'm actually pulling through this filter, instead of pushing. I can see how pushing through it (putting it on the out end of the blower) would act as a silencer, but I feel like it is so quiet already that it would be unnecessary. So I'll keep pulling through it. Basically, I have the airflow coming through the bottom of the closet door, up through the plants, into the carbon filter, through the aircooled hood, into the blower, and blown out into the attic.

Now I want to look into that junior sized Stanley blower that they sell at walmart, and put it in my mother cab.

Hey, nice grow hush.

I have used a 250 quite a bit, they are great for a small personal grow...

how centered is your bulb in your new reflector? I have always had to add some type of extension to help center mine.

Well I am finally all done! I still didn't even finish harvesting by the time I went to bed last night, but my fiancee finished it all up for me while I was at work today. Just based on how long it took to harvest everything (while still taking into account the leafiness of this strain which makes it take a long time), I have a real sense of how much weight I've got here. I really don't think I'll be far off from my estimate of ~4 ounces. The buds that were directly under the light are ROCK HARD!!! The gigantic, swollen calyxes at the top of them were actually hard as a rock and SHARP!! They could probably scratch skin if I tried!

So yeah, pictures are forthcoming. I've taken a few already, but I'll take a few more to show them all trimmed and hanging on the line. Then when I'm motivated enough, I'll upload them all.

I love being a cannabis grower! :D

very nice - kudos on the harvest

is the odd odor kinda like 'garlic meets stinkfoot'? recently been skimming thru a pack of satori, and noticed that present itself rather obnoxiously in one of them - it got taken down a week ago, so it's not even met a jar yet, but it seems to have mellowed into a more tolerable odor as it dries

I almost missed this, sorry...

My bulb isn't perfectly centered, but its good enough for government work. I actually had to fashion my own socket holder, so when I did that, I tried to recess it well into the reflector. But I actually do have plans, next grow, to use one of those mogul extenders. Thanks for the tip! :)
