Hey Trev, that all looks/sounds good. another vote for flat white here btw.

As for moms, going though the beans is the fun part but it takes time. Keep the ones that are good and eventually swap them out for what is great. Bonsai is easy and it pays to be bold. If the plant is healthy, and you have a stem with at least 1 good leaf at the end of it you are good to go. Since I hold 7, I don't take many cuts off any of them so it is a lot of simple maintenance just keeping them small. Dig up the bonsai mums thread from old timer and read it a few times if you haven't. I don't follow it verbatim, but it is a great starting point for sure. Then make any old thing a momma and see what kind of abuse she can take. Get your cloning skills down and you won't ever have to worry about loosing a mom. Redundancy is very comforting when you are getting started. maybe you are already experienced in all of that though I don't know!

I have 2 cabs and both are a bit larger than your new one's compartments but not much. My veg/mom/clone cab is 7wx15dx21h and I manage to keep 7 moms, a 12-26 space cloner, and enough room to veg up to 8 plants in 8" tall (x3"x3") pots. Feel free to take a peek in my albums for some inspiration if you aren't all set on that yet.

The main reason i built this cabinet was the ability to keep moms in the same space. Ive never done a bonsai before, but ive read through most every thread on this site over the years haha.

Im excited to give it a try and should be within my ability, some mothers ive kept in the past stayed fairly small with my greedy trimming but this space is much smaller than even those, so it should be a fun learning experience.

ill definetly pop in and check your grow out.

@ marxsman, Thanks man! however when i finish the build, ill be making a new thread for an actual grow log in this cabinet. So you will get to see some plant action inside the cab.

i will link this thread with the new and vise versa, i hope this can be a reference for anyone planning a new microcab build.

If anyone is interested in more detailed pictures of specific areas let me know.

stay safe and happy smokin guys.:moon:

Update:

Got the door mounted, and the lights in.

5 x 23watt 2700k cfls, i can easily fit 6, but i broke a socket installing them, so im 1 short for the time being.

Unfortunetly i dont have a heated garage, so paint is at the mercy of mother nature. Were im at theres snow on the ground and its been raining for 2 days!

so im puting white paint on hold, and throwing up some temporary mylar to finish my sour60's in this cab.

onto the pictures!

to do list:

finish carbon filter
mount fan
glue top on cabinet
weather stripping
hang temp mylar

GROW.

nice NGBish grow box brother:tiphat:

I also almost got pulled into using that white light grating from Home Depot to for the bottom of my box as a raiser for flushing, But I went for the rubber runner mat instead ;) same effect I may still use it though, It's a very great material.

is that 3/4" x 7/16" x 10' weather stripping?

Not trying to poo poo your new door Trev, but since you only have one door are you planning on only accessing your veg cabinet when lights are on in flower? Using 2 doors will allow you to keep the flower room light tight when you are accessing the veg side. Maybe you are doing a 2nd door on the flower cab under the swinging door?

It will be just 1 big door, i entertained the thought of 2 doors but with such a small veg space and the idea of a 3 ply door makes my hinges shake!

i basically have my growing style on autopilot for the most part. I really only plan to look/care for them when lights are on in both sections. Any other time i should be sleeping or too medicated to find the key to the lock.

basically just need to finish up random odds and ends, my 4 x sour60's are already inside soaking up some CFL sun.

@ Microgrower2011, i think its 3/4" x 1/2" x 10' large gap weather stripping, THICK stuff, should work nicely when smooshed down.

Expect a picture update later today.

There's no big difference from using 1 door or 2 or 3. You can always get some black tarp material from Walmart, or HD and just cut it to desired size and then velcro tape that to the flowering room that would seal up the light perfectly.

The only thing I don't like about those thicker black weatherstripping is that it is to dense and it doesn't stick well to wood...I like the more foamy light material weatherstripping for doors. I just use the denser material for door cracks.
