1000w hps how close to plants?

I am trying to design a vert bare bulb system

can i put my plants within 50cm of a 1000w hps? what i am saying is when the plants are in full flower they will be 50cm from the bulb possibly even closer....

is that overkill?

i can buy some fans for extra cerculation if need be!!!

Isn't rule of thumb 2ft max with a 1000 watt.? & get the bulb as close as ya can get without burning the plants while still maintaining max coverage and penetration with the light reflection. Your ventilation & sq-ft makes a big difference too. Cooler the bulb closer ya can get?? I don't grow vertical I have a hood but I am assuming most principals are the same. If I am wrong I am sure someone will be quick to say so.

in my stadium quite a few plants are about 7" away from 1000 watters open bulb and they aren't showing any signs of stress... just really fast growth.

imho you are wasting energy and losing yeild if your closer than 16 inches...

move it further away and increase the square footage of your canopy and you see an increase in your harvest...

50-60cm will be perfect

SO closer than 16" is loosing lumen penetration? I will measure in the morning, I've been in the basement 4 times today alone lol.

well not penetration, but if they are at 20 inches you could cover more or bigger plants...

Hey Ghetto,
I threw a qwick vid up that shows the distances from my bare 1000w in a 5ft x 5 ft tent.
I'm like between 9" to 30" away but you can see the buds are nice close and far.
I was all hung up on the lumen drop off with distance when I was in the planning stages but in practice I see that in a space as small as mine it's all pretty bright.

can i ask your opinion on posting grows on youtube? is there any risk involved bringing anything back to the internet connection you are using?

I think it's pretty simple to trace anyones actions online, even the best hackers get caught sometimes. I think there are way too many people out here posting all over the internet for me to lose sleep about my personal medicinal grow. I have a cali card and I'm below the plant limits in my county.

I guess the bottom line is that I want to share this with others and I feel safer doing it online than in real life. only 2 people in my personal life know I'm growing, but by posting online I'm sure that I will help someone else find relief by using this wonderful medicine.

my health was so bad before I started using cannabis 2 years ago, and now my doctor says I'm one of the real miracles in terms of the change in my condition.

i feel like I've learned more from this forum and youtube than all the books I've read and I really am grateful for the help.
