Ear Cleaners

Could this thread be deleted. Its making it difficult to search for earwax info. Stupid ear cleaners.

When I read the first post in this thread it reminded me of the ancient joke about how to get rid of pubic crabs. Shave a small strip down the middle of your pubes, get some lighter fluid and light your pubes on fire. When the crabs run out of the flames, stab them with an ice pick.
Should work on head lice too.

i dont know if this was said already i wont go reading through all the pages, but when i was a kid i had a buncha earwax and the doctor gave me this kit that was essentially a syringe and mineral oil i believe. pour a couple drops of oil in the ear then wait a while and suck it out. those rounded tip forceps will work too, i got a similar device from the doctor, looks like a little skinny metal rod with 2 rubber end, one had a little tiny scoop the other side is like a blade. rubber.

Something else that helps soften ear wax ...

Something else that helps soften ear wax ...

Yeah Q-tips are not meant to go in the ear, read the box they even warn against doing it. They say to use on the outside of the ear only.

It leaves (mostly) microscopic fibers that help reinforce wax build up. Like rebar in concrete. You can use a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide. Turn your head to the side, pour it in and you will hear popping noises, then tilt your head back out and it will all drain out.. I think doctors use a high pressure hose with hot water, sometimes use hydrogen peroxide.

With that said, I use Q-tips LOL.. I should go to the doctor and have them cleaned.

He told me NEVER put anything smaller then your elbow into your ear..

Something else that helps soften ear wax ... is to use a medicine dropper's worth of warm (not hot) olive oil into the ear canal. After about 5 minutes, a squeeze bulb loaded with <= 3% hydrogen peroxide solution will flush out most of the ear wax.

FWIW: Apparently some health clinics staffed by supposed "doctors" can cause more harm than good in this regard. I had a lymphatic system infection that forced a tremendous amount of wax into my ear canals overnight -- filled them up to the point of covering part of my outer ear.

The "doctor" used hand tools to dig the wax out of my ears, which was extremely painful -- no vacuum, no hydrogen peroxide flush, no warm water flush -- just the hand tools. I have had a moderate level of tinnitus (3 on a scale of 1 - 5) in both ears ever since.

A significant part of my experience (beyond this) with the USA medical profession has been negative -- imvho most are little better than the barbers with leeches and patent snake oil medicines of 150 years ago.

swimming in the sea seems to work for me.....the salt water gets into my ears and flushes them out....works especially well when you get broadsided by a big wave....

Someone may have said it already, but they sell "swimmers ear" kits at the drug store.
You lay on your side and put the softening drops in one ear at a time(i like to add a little hydrogen peroxide too) and just lay there and wait for it to break up, and then use the ear syringe bulb that comes with the kit to flush them out.
I'm always a bit freaked out by how much better I can hear after doing it.

You must be fawking kidding me. ROTFLMFAO!!! Try a Q tip dipped in rubbing alcohol or peroxide. Q tips aren't sterile so the alcohol or peroxide will sterilize them and help clean out your ear.

Ive actually tried the ear candles. And when I finished and opened up the tube, there was a ton of wax inside. I'm no professional, but at the time I thought it was ear wax, it smelled like it too (had to be sure haha). but after reading this, im starting to think i was gypped.
