Looking good, after building my cab from scratch I can appreciate the work your putting into it. Nice job!

One thing I noticed. Is that clear silicone your using in the cracks? I used clear silicone and it's non-paintable. I really didn't think about it until I started to paint my cab and all the cracks looked like poop! I ended up going over all the clear silicone with white silicone after I painted the cab. Just a thought.

@ One Q, dimensions are 19.5"wide, 12" deep, 26" tall. Yet to drill the intake holes, they will be on the floor of the veg chamber. Ill be adding some 2 x 3's to the bottom to raise it up and give it a more cabinet look.

designed to hold a 10 gallon fishtank. (exact footprint of a 10gal tank)

(flower chamber 13" x 12" x 26", veg chamber 6" x 12" x 18", utility chamber 6" x 12" x 8")

@ Wookieefoot, im using GE concrete &mortar caulk. My reasoning for this is simple. Its thick! It contains sand or some form of "grit" in it. Its a dark grey color and paints very well. The thickness allows it to fill somehwhat large gaps, and is completely light proof. Dont be fooled by the name, its bonding capability with wood is 4 of 5.

to do list:
mount lighting
mount exhaust fan
drill exhaust fan hole
drill intake hole
Add the bottom trim
paint the rest of the pvc ill be using
paint the cabinet

That's cool. If you do organics, then your water changes can be fed to the plants. If you do hydro, you can connect your veg cab SWCs to the fishtank. Free veg nutes.

Aquaponics. Some say it doesnt do that well for flowering plants tho.

@ one Q, ive thought about it! i actually already water my plants with tank water. When they dont get ferts, they get fish tank water. I keep aquatic plants, so its not very rich in nutrients, but they seem to like it ne how.

@ Zen trikester, thanks! and yes i will be keeping 1 or 2 bonsai moms just need to pick some beans i want to do that with. HAha, i have too many beans laying around to make a quick painless decision.

AND heres more pics.. few more coats of paint needed but i thought id share some more progress of the bottom light trap (intake) enjoy!

If I can add two things to this process.
1) filter your incoming air. you can diy a false floor with "egg crate" in the FLOURO defuser section of the orange. use a small furnace filter that fits.

2) instead of painting the inside white, get a windshield visor from local autoparts store. Get one for a big van for flower space and small honda for the veg space. a roll of aluminum tape. Cut 1.5" short in every direction and tape it up. OR small tacks instead of tape. This is WAY more reflective, and no wasted time waiting for paint to dry. It can be the last thing you do too. Set it up, add visor material, add plants, grow.

I thought flat white paint reflected something like 98-99% of the light back or something really high like that?

Your cab is bomb btw trev

Don't do this. If you are going to cover the inside in a reflective surface don't half-ass it, get real mylar its cheap enough. Barring that flat white paint is the most effective at reflecting/diffusing light and is also very cost/time friendly.

Thanks man! and you are correct, flat white paint is the most reflective thing you can put on your walls.

I am in the process of painting the inside, if you notice the inner wall of the veg chamber is painted, i had to paint it before assembly the side so i had room! waiting on more black paint for the outer finish so i can begin working on painting the inside.

ill be painting the inside, primer then flat white spray paint.

However! great minds think alike on the egg crate idea. I didnt have a scrap big enough to fit snuggly so i had to butcher a plastic shelf i had laying around. Perfect fit!

Beautiful job on the cab:headbangeNice tip on the mortar caulk.

thanks bro, Welcome to Icmag! i managed to snag your first post, thats awesome.

i actually found out about the mortar caulk by accident. Sent the old lady to pickup a tube of caulk on her trip to town for supply's. And well long story short thats what she brought home! and ive been using it with my cabs ever since.

a shot of some other cabs ive built, incase anyone is still picture hungry:
