How early can you bring your plants outdoors?

I'd like to start some auto flowering strains indoors and then bring them outdoors at the very earliest time possible, hoping I can get 3 harvests this year.

I've been looking at general gardening sites and they say some plants are warm soil plants and others are cold soil plants so it really depends on which you have to know how early you can bring them out.

So is weed a cold soil or warm soil plant?

How can I find out the earliest time to bring'em out? Early as possible but I want it late enough that I know it's safe for them. No need for unnecessary risks.

Yeah, anytime past last phreeze....too early can risk getting a cold night and shocking the plant though...don`t wanna put stress on a auto too they are very picky I think during the startish

you really need to check out a farmers alminac or somthing for your erea. if you push the boundries you not gonna get ideal results,so try to compensate for variations, and try it for a few years you need to get a basline for whatever your growing in your erea.
its a tough job,and takes patience to get a ideal plant for your erea.

Cannabis likes soil abov 50 degrees, and 60 and 70 is better. Below 55 50 degrees, the plants will look sick and quit growing and the delay/damage last well beyond the cold weather. If your plant is shocked by cold soil/roots, it wont grow for several weeks and then slowly begin to grow again: that scenario is a failed grow with autoflowering plants.

That's another thing I'm curious about, how should I transition from starting indoors and then bringing them outdoors? Put them in the shade for a few days? Get some sort of cover to dim the sunlight for a few days? First timer here.

you could try putting them in a south facing window or porrch if its possible, for a week .

if you can do the porch, its better cause it resembles the eviorment in wich its gonna stay in, and if anything goes wrong just bring'em in.

Not an option unfortunately, but it seems like some sort of semi-transluscent cover would do the same job as a porch. Thanks for the info.

put them under a bush or a tree for 5 to 10 days before direct sunlight, i usually up em under a bush with direct sun for 2 weeks to make sure they are acclimatized.... nothing worst than killing plants by burning.. its lost effort, lost time and lost money..then you have to start over..... mistakes cost too much.

I wait until all sources say frost is behind us. Then wait some more. Ground temps will vary depending on amount of shade and wind. If you are adding nutrient amendments to the soil do so a couple of weeks early. They and working the soil will bring temps up. A meat thermometer will aid you there.

the earliest you can put autos out @ 41 north is may 2 with 13.9 hours of daylight, but you can get a good frost before the full moon!
with a high of 15 hours daylight on june 21st, june 1st and you should be fine @ 41 north! :good:

Long as you know you're far enough along in the season that it wont get too cold one night you can put them out as sprouts in peat pellets.

I concur, its not just last frost date but soil temps as well.

My last frost date isnt until 5/15 (on paper) and even then the soil temps are still 50's. So i give it another week or 2.

5 day hardening off is fine...

day 1 full shade
day2 partial shade
day 3 50% full sun
day 4 60% full sun
day 5 100% full sun unless your having a cloudless day...then shade them from mid days sun...

Plant on cloudy or rainy day...

Glad you guys mentioned that about soil temps, I always wondered why early plants never took off like they should even with warm temps & plenty of sun. Now it all makes PERFECT sense.

What would you guys say is the IDEAL soil temp to wait until? I plan on digging a few inches & reading with a laser this year.

My mostly sativa acclimatised strain is already out; it won't be cut until Nov. Everything else goes in the ground in 6 weeks. 2nd wave in 10 weeks as back-up/seed stock. Good luck to all, fuck off to rippers.
