Hey Guys,

I think im also a underuser of worm "poop" How much should we be using per gallon of soil?? Or any other ratio is fine.. ive heard dont use more than 10%... i only use like 1 cup per 3 gallon grow bag.

What do the experienced ones think??

cheers

i usually just mix 1 bag each of ocean forest, happy frog, light warrior, a few buckets worth of perlite, then add some bone and blood meal and good to go. havent needed worm castings yet but have heard good things about em...

What are you trying to accomplish?

Worm castings are a source of micro nutrients and micro life in soil grows. Relative to peat or coco they are dense and heavy.

If you are going to use bottled chem fertilizer line from AN neither of these micro nutrients or micro life are required. Most people who are using these sort of nutrient lines keep the mixes pretty simply (promix, sunshine mix, coco-perlite mixes, ect).

If you want to go organic there are some very good soil recipes at the following link - https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=53792. The most basic of the mixes calls for 50% coco or peat, 30% perlite, and 20% castings with some dolomite lime. To this base mix you can add: blood meal, alfalfa meal, or high N guano (for N); bone meal, fish bone meal, or high P guano (for P); and kelp meal (for K). There are recommendations for amounts of these amendments in the tread that I cited. If you don't want to amend the mix with fertilizers than simply water with organic bottled nutrients, top dress, or brew up nutrient teas.

I'm currently using the basic mix described above amended with guanos and kelp meal. I haven't used this mix for long, but so far I am very pleased with the results.
