I may be misunderstanding the flipflop thing!

A $10.oo timer for each light would do the same? 2 lights on for 6 hours and when their done the other two lights get turned on for the remaining 6 hours

Hi BSE, you could alternate lights with timers yes. But I would then need more ballast's, timers and contactors..
I'm off to the grow in a while so should do an update anyday soon... Hope they are going well????

You sir are correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd suggest really good timers (Intermatic), so you may be spending more than $10, but a timers and multiple ballasts is much better in my opinion than a flip box.

I haven't bought timers in 6 years. I looked up the intermatic timer,$23oo for a HID one. The cheapies are $12.oo here in eastern Canada. I'll buy quality first as electricity is not the place to be stingy with $$$

Even with a ballast for each light the electricity savings is equal to the flipflop and no adjoining circuits to deal with!
Thx

BL....where are you? (hoping all is well)

Yeah...Hydrosun`s spot on.......

Yeah...Hydrosun`s spot on.......

Hey budshot......I`ll be the first to admit that I never trusted flip relays cuz I only went to each of my setups once a week and spent the cash for double ballasts on their own designated timers for insurance and my own peace of mind .......

I bought Intermatic heavy duty dial type units by the case since I had 6 ballasts per location with 4 and 5 locations at a time....

Memory may fail me but I wanna say the part number was TN311C.....Only had 3 on and off pins ta set so less shit ta go wrong........I wanna say they were like 12-13 bucks a piece by the case , and maybe only 15-16 bucks by the one`sie`s....

Used outdoor heavy duty irrigation type digital waterproof HB88RC`s(pretty sure that`s right) for my pumps ......Holler if I can help.....

Peace...DHF....:ying:.....

With your drain lines being at the top of the container and your feed lines T'ing off above the water do you think that the entire contents of your containers get mixed pretty quickly? I think I might feel a little better if there were also a feed line at the bottom of the container as well. Does this seem like over kill to you?

billy, for your setup, 10 inch extractor- the pumps- lights- waterfall noise whats the combined noise like?

the setup looks the dogs bollocks, im just making assumption you use acoustic ducting, the carbon filter acts as a baffle, so much noise is suppressed there.

how about the tanks themselves? does the thick plastic tanks, and res all lagged up reduce the "splashing noise" and the hum from the pump?

well for my 8inch extractors, to quieten em i used acoustic ducting, an excess of length 5 metre either side it makes a little difference to the air output but it does make the air coming out basically silent. i still had to box and insulate the extractor unit off though. i thought id maybe bought a cheap noisey one to be fair, its db rating was 50-55. once id done that i couldnt hear it outside the room at all.
i would like to try the setup, i know its a good one, its the splashing noise with this setup what concerns me- im at a loss at the minute how to suppress it without losing the oxygenating effect.(nosey neighbours u see lol)

BL could you show how youve got the veg systems setup please?

Do you have the top drip flowing constantly, how does it drain from the bottom tank to your res?

Ive been going back & forth on constructing a veg system that enables easy transplant to the flowering polytanks. If its not too much trouble could you take some pics please.

Another thing, I was just wondering if you were to use an inner container that was shorter then the current one your using that would allow you to raise the water level higher allowing more roots to grow & as we all know "More roots more zoots" he he he.
I was asking myself what if you were to use this (below pic) instead ... there would be more space for roots & youd be using less clay pebbles what do you reckon?

If the net pot was sitting in a bottom less bucket thats resting on the polytank (if that makes sense)

I didn't think vegging plants would be popular,???
They are just starting to bud now so I'll start updates soon...
The NL5xAfg needed some extra veg to reach a good size.. Indica thoroughbred, so plenty of room to stretch out her arms... All going well though, just switched to flower nutes @ 1.2 ec canna Aqua Flores.. No additives..
