What's new

broke but deciding to have kids

Coot, we're not talking about helping folks who've fallen on hard times. That's from the heart.

We're talking about marginalizing scumbags who've decided to play house on the government's (MY) dime.......

I can tell you are upset and for good reason

this is what so many people do, it really is like playing house

I dont like thinking about it cause thats really the scope of the situation for a lot of people. but to have that be your plan is a pretty sad existence imo.

I hate having to live on welfare and unemployment, ive had to do it before and its a really crappy feeling but at the same time...some of these jobs that are available are equally or more discouraging than just getting a check...

Low pay, no respect, and you still trading all this time just to struggle and barely stay afloat..your answer could and should be work harder to play harder but...

I hate saying it but when it all adds up it doesn't always add up for poor people to keep that crappy job... so I see it from all sides..its a quagmire no doubt about it...if I was born rich or privileged with money I probably would have never had the contrast of really being without money

Hazy, apology accepted, as I'm sure you'll accept mine.

The concept was to point out how laughable it is that you have to register a dog but you can have a child without a nod.

The municipal/federal shouldn't be in my face concerning a decision to expand my group/tribe/family.

BUT!!!!

At the same time they/we shouldn't be responsible for bailing out the fucking idiots who fail.

Whether you fail at raising dogs/cats or little water-headed offspring.

And if you're in that situation dude I'm sorry for you.

But, DO NOT consciously decide to breed.

I refuse to pay for it.......

im not in that situation thankfully but because I planned for rainy days and cut my expenses..I'm sitting fine right now and grateful but yeah im not 100% broke but still breeding my home grown seed from my nut sack ain't in the cards right now

I don't expect you to pay for someone else
but I guess the government( or in Washington state, chase bank controlled the welfare system go figure) think that the people would be more problems to the society if they didn't have the welfare option..these people would be forced in further illegal activity causing even wider problems....if we put it out on a data sheet and just compared the cost of crime vs cost of welfare...welfare im sure reduces at least some of the crime associated with poverty...it would be a bigger mess with out imo
imagine all these people stealing from stores and neighbors..

you would think if we took away the benefits they would just work harder, some this would be true for but not for all..real talk

Uuh, the reference to not breeding was rugrats.

Context people, context.

This is a thread about having kids when you can't pay for them.

If we were talking about breeding seeds, then you would have a revenue stream and a way to pay for offspring.

Holy shit, am I really trying to explain the obvious to..............oh, neverfuckingmind!

I don't "grow for a living" JJ.

And I pay more in taxes in a year than most folks earn in ten.

On top of that, I support a number of food banks in my community to keep the truly needy from falling between the cracks.

With all of that said, my dark side rages when I hear and see morons take advantage.

How much in taxes do you pay a year? Because im thinking you must think you are a millionaire? billionaire? While earning so much money, how do you find the time to troll?

Totally irresponsible, selfish and unethical. If anyone of my friends or relatives decided to do this I would voice strong opposition. It's not fair to the child, to the parents and if they decide to give it away or end up raising a fuck up, to society for all the burdens the kid is imposing.

As for the welfare people are discussing, for everyone 1 person you can find who truly needed it, I can tell you about 10 people I have personally encountered who have abused government welfare. I don't know the answer but the current system is a fucking joke...unemployment and foodstamps are abused like none other...

I know a lot of people who were broke but when they found out they were having kids its really made them step there game up, they got there shit together quick fast and in a hurry, and I believe if they didnt have that baby they would be in the same unmotivated state they were in before.
... Then you got them fools who have kids so they can get some food stamps, low income housing and a government check, dumb biatches.

great men and women have come from poor familys.

Ya but the odds of a great man or women coming from a poor family is even less likely than if they come from a moderate family or rich family. Also, just because you are poor doesn't necessarily mean you don't take care of your kids. This leaves room for the occasional great man/woman. The overwhelming majority of the time, however, kids coming from poor families have less tools at their disposal (tools in all forms: attention, food, facilities, time of parents etc) to help them fulfill their potential.

some of my close friends are young dumb broke and actually planning on having kids while in this state of insecurity not someday, not by accident but now...

personally opinions? experiences?? suggestions???
some of us that are old enough have seen this happen to friends/acquaintances over the yrs, it usually ends badly w/a broken home at the very least if not worse w/domestic violence ruling in the home. alcohol, drugs, cheating spouses and more can be attributed to rushing into raising a family.

most arguments at least begin over money in a marriage, now go ahead and add a baby (or 2 or 3) which never stops costing bucks and you're highly fucked. next thing you know you're driving piece of shit cars w/out insurance, getting tickets you can't pay, suspended license for unpaid tickets and bench warrants to follow.

after all, if having kids while you're broke is a good idea then ignoring traffic tickets while you're still broke borders on fucking genius and that's just how they'll play them cards when dealt a hand.......

I just want to share my experiences with you all. A lot of you seem to think that having little or no money means you have no right to have children. Well I was one of those "young dumb broke" teens having kids by accident. Making minimum wage, mother on unemployment, etc. We still had no problems looking after the little guy. Maybe things are different in Canada, but in my experience children don't actually cost that much to raise. No, the kids aren't going to have the nicest name brand clothing or toys, but do the kids care? I'll let you know in case you don't already, the kids don't mind at all! I was raised on welfare, I know what it's like growing up and your parents won't even let you go to your friend's birthday parties because they can't afford it. It gave me the motivation to do something better for my own kids. Before I had kids I was perfectly fine working 80+ hours a week for minimum wage, making my boss rich. I'll be honest, I got really lucky. I ended up getting into construction. I loved my job, I finished my 4yr apprenticeship in 2yrs. I honestly make more money now than I know what to do with, so I only work 6 months a year and spend the rest with my family. I'm just rambling now so I'll try to sum it up.

Children don't cost much to raise until they start school, I'm not sure where that 250k per child number came from, I find it kind of funny. People are saying they don't want their taxes paying for "dumb broke kids" just having more kids. I understand where you're coming from, but in all but the very extreme cases, these people aren't all lazy bloodsuckers trying to cheat the system and get an easy way out. They'd love to be able to work and make good money, the problem is it just isn't that easy, unless you get lucky. The government wastes your tax dollars on a lot of things, if you have issues with where your tax dollars are being spent, don't take it out on the lowest class of people JUST TRYING TO LIVE THEIR LIVES. They deserve to be able to do that much. There are more important things you could be spending your energy on. I was very disappointed in a lot of you when I read your posts. Just my two cents.

PS: Would you trade places with a 20-something year old parent who had no option but to raise kids on welfare? My guess is you wouldn't. They deserve to live too, and you're the selfish one if you would deny them that.

I have an opinion on this matter.
When a baby is born in this world, we as a society have an obligation to support it regardless of the parent's resources. We can't let it starve, go naked, live on the street, not be educated, nor see a doctor, now can we? It's welfare is society's welfare.
The costs of not doing this is far greater than the pennies it cost. Ie- moral decrepitude, illiteracy, crime, disease, more poverty, etc.
When society finds a way to distribute the Earth's resources more equitably (ie-stop paying ceo's and their ilk millions or billions of dollars) then welfare it must be.
On the other hand, I find it offensive when charities run ads for money for children in other countries. Where the fu*&^*ck are their parents or relatives? Given the choice of sending money or having the child starve ........... well, I've never sent a check yet! Damn! I must be closet republicanista.
