When San Francisco narcotics officers showed up at a Castro District home early on the morning of January 11, they had a search warrant for "proceeds" from an illegal marijuana grow.

But the SFPD and federal DEA officers didn't find any cannabis cash at that address, one of six raided simultaneously that morning, reports Chris Roberts at SF Weekly.

Instead, they found Clark Freshman, a UC Hastings law professor and the main consultant to the TV show Lie To Me.

Freshman was handcuffed while in his bathrobe as agents searched, despite his insistence that they had the wrong place and were breaking the law.

"I told them to call the judge and get their warrant updated," Freshman said. "They just laughed at me -- I guess that's why they're called pigs."

Soon the porcine police may be defendants, in addition to douche bags. Freshman, who is furious about the incident, has pledged to sue the DEA and the SFPD for unlawful search and seizure of his home.

Professor of Law Clark Freshman: "There will not be a better litigated case this century"

"I've been on the fence for years about the legalization of drugs ... and now I'm a victim of this crazy War On Drugs," Freshman said.

He pledged to sue until "I see [the agents'] houses sold at auction and their kids' college tuitions taken away from them."

"There will not be a better litigated case this century," Freshman said.

Freshman isn't just frontin' -- he has plenty of firepower to back up his claim. He received his B.A. from Harvard, where his senior thesis facilitated a pardon in the infamous Leo Frank case. He got his M.A. from University College, Oxford, where he was a Marshall Scholar, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School, according to the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Sorry to hear an innocent man had to be put through this. Glad to see the pigs finally bit off more than they could chew. Nothing will probably come of it, but we can hope.

maybe just maybe

maybe just maybe

Maybe a precedent can be set that police officers can be sued in situations like this as individuals as opposed to police officers.A

This is epic. Anybody know if there is a way I can donate and a blog/website to keep informed on the issue? I would be ecstatic if he took them down.

This is what I thought when I read this, and why I say we should get more lawyers raided.

If it only affects us and only we get killed because a cop is scared and trained to react like a soldier. But if we can get powerful people raided and abused (yes this is a horrible ting to wish on good people but still they probably won't get shot) police abuses will be more public.

almost makes me want to do like a 6000w op of purely legal vegetables tomatoes, rosemary ect

just leave my windows open so it obviously looks like something is growing in there,

police will eventually raid cause that's just what they do

only to violate my rights and show the country this is really the state of affairs, half the country policing or guarding the other half...

we don't need violence to show how F'd some of these narco cops are...i've been around some pretty rough people and no lie some of the narco cops here in the states are on par with some of these "bad guys"

the only thing i see bad with all of this, is if that lawyer sues the dpt. as well as the cops in question, the money that goes to paying the lawsuit is that of the city people's tax dollars., but it does seem like there are way too many good innocent people getting their doors busted in, i heard of some 70 year old couple having this happen to them, its really sad, but i do think these cops in frisco are going to be made an example of by this guy.

I dont need a master law degree at harvard and stanford to see that they will just pull another WMD plea on bad intelligence and the judge will either dismass the case or give Freshman a settlement of a few hundred thousand dollars courtesy of the tax payers and these cops will continue doing what they do...

No cops will be arrested. No children will lose their tuition. No DEA will be working at McDonalds...

As much as I think most cops/dea are total scumbags, I think its pretty fucked up to wish misfortune on their children...

yea i completely agree with you big herb, i dont think people really understand how far we have let these tyrants run ramped, so much so that i dont think 1 person could ever put a dent in such a corrupt system on that scale no matter what education you have had.. unless every cannabis user in america or the world for that matter stands together and literally goes out in attempts to finally change something, we will be in the same boat for a long time.

i hate to say it but libya is a perfect example of people not taking shit from their government, i was hoping it would make people understand that we live in the movie "Antz" being controlled knowing we easily outnumber all those who hold us down, the people in libya figured it out wish we would too but america is more worried about what Charlie Sheen is doing.

god bless america.. lol.

i get quite sick of the term "war on drugs" there is no war, just people not caring enough to do anything about it. the DEA will tell you there never has been a war, im sure more people die from alcohol and tobacco related deaths a year than cops have died from this supposed war. give me a break.

they act like we are stupid enough to believe they are cracking down and minimizing drug related operations also, no matter how many people they throw in prison 5 or 10+ more just popped out the cracks doing the same things, people live crappy lives therefor they look for things to make it seem happier, or easier to get by day to day, so as long as we have a corrupt government raping people giving people the choice to be miserable than they will want to do drugs and there will always be someone to provide them, it will never end. its pretty damn simple.

shitting on a individuals true rights is what it should be called.
