I am currently running 12/12 from 9 am to 9 pm and I need to switch it to 9 pm to 9 am due to higher temps.how bad would it be to leave the light off for 24 hours to achieve this?Running a 1000 watt HPS three to five weeks into flower.I stagger them so I can harvest a few every couple weeks.
Thanks in advance,BC

Yeah, i have done it many times, plants dont like light stress, but as long as you dont do it every day, they can cope, i also run my lights at night because otherwise my plants would freeze, the other day i had to do a grow room overhaul. The light was on all night, then all during the day, then maybe 3 hours off, then on all night again, my plants dont even seem to have noticed. I have read many times that this sort of disturbance can cause hermies, but i have been lucky i suppose, its never happened to me.

Plants will not stress as much when you extend the dark period, 24 hours of light all of the sudden during flowering would be much worse.. I have switched like you described a number of times (during different grows) due to high/low temps.. No problem..
