What's new

sweet skunk

The male used to pollinate the SPG clones he was flowering was purported to be the NL/Haze...therefore it does have the GF parent even if it's not present in great quantity phenotypically speaking in the SOL Swt Sk clone. Hell half of what people are passing around as Sweet Skunk is not really the Sweet Skunk anyways but clones of plants from the S1's if you are lucky but more likely ISS clones! I held the legit SOL clone for years, several years back it took me a trip to Canada by car from NJ to get the fucking thing from a VERY reputable source I won't name and I can tell you there is definitely a SPG component in it but not nearly as much as something like say Sweet Tooth or LUI. The real clone is very sativa leaning but has that familiar SOL citrus body to it. The flowering period is a bit long for my tastes. :joint:

Here is a cross I made of it with an early Swt#4 and BB. This plant was very Swt Sk leaning but done in just about 7 weeks and potency was outstanding it smelled like licorice, citrus, & starfruits. :canabis:

No makers for SPG in the SS...

SOTF420...

That cross you did looks killer bro. Look at all those trichs!!!! What would you have rated the potency level at???? Never had the pleasure of SWT tooth, Sweet Skunk or SPG.

Maybe someday huh?

Still have a jar of it, seems like a good day to smoke some! :joint:

I backcrossed it to a Swt #4 (that plant shown) and got like 40 beans from it just a very small pollination one branch since it was such a great F1 female. Have 2 choice females from those beans going and will likely do a bigger run of beans from it backcrossing again to a Swt #4 male as they are very hazey sativa structured plants just like the mother was but they preflowered at like a month old from seed just like the Swt

Such a clear uplifting buzz really euphoric and much like the Sweet Skunk but maybe with more of a blueberry anti-anxiety note to it all effect wise but major citrus GF aroma. Simply wonderful genetics from SOL to begin with thanks to Breeder Steve and let us not forget the Short DJ! :respect:

there´s no SPG in Sweet Skunk - the DNA doesn´t lie like people do. Some people tend to beleive anything they read on the internet, but in reality there is a alot of bullshit that goes on behond the scenes in the industry that would make people jawdropped.

The heritage is unknown, and was not even selected by the´breeder´ as claimed, the provenance is unverifiable.

The pot is hig quality, the flavour and scent are unique and she does stretch. A worthwhile plant in her own right, just don´t take her heritage claims too seriously and you´ll be very happy with her.... it´s really about how the plant performs more than the heritage, imho.

Respectfully,

Chimera, what do you think it is then?

I think the first time I read about it's heritage was in your hightimes article years ago about it I will have to find the link.

I read many of your excellent HT articles praising SOL

I know you said you have done some genetic testing and showed no SPG markers but is it possible that is because of the phenotype genetically speaking? Appreciate the input, keep it grapefruity :canabis:

Well SOTF or Chimera,

Which of the strains available in seed form would give the best chance of finding a close representation to the Sweet Skunk clone? The Sweet Skunk S1 seeds from Legends...or the Dolce Sativa/Sweetest Sativa. Thanks in advance.

I would honestly go with Chimera's Dolce Sativa or SOL "Sweet Blue" which is the Swt Sk x Blueberry and a terrific strain with many Swt Sk phenotypes but a little something else added from the Blue side. :canabis:

I for one have not had great luck with S1's in general but maybe you would have a different experience with the Swt Sk from Legends. I have recently come to have some reservations about S1's in general I feel like they are some kind of frankenstein beans. :bigeye:

Well, honestly i'm tempted to stay away fro the Sweet Skunk S1's for the simple fact that they are so old. Im really thinking about going to Sweet Blue/Dolce Sativa/Sweetest Sativa route, but was wondering how many packs it would take to get a really good representation of the Sweet Skunk clone.

I would get 2 packs and make many more beans to go through down the road using all the most Swt Sk leaning male & females. Just an idea but you are gonna have multiple keepers from one pack and maybe something better than the clone structure wise. I have seen some big yields from Sweet Blue some of the best bud you can grow man.

You just can't go wrong with Blueberry from DJ and SOL Sweet Skunk :joint:

I have it. It doesn't form the long colas of ISS. It puts out lots of triangle shaped buds, on thin stems. You have to really tie her up. It is a low yielder, even if you veg it longer, prune it up nice, train it, feed it properly, etc. But the quality is second to none. From my experience she really doesnt like nitrogen, and will easily get lanky. stems get purple easily. the resin production is insane. you could just rip off fan leaves by hand and just smoke what is left.
i crossed it with schrom.
