What's new

Seems long overdue

So I was just wanting some opinion of these plants. Both are from PeakseedBC and they have been exellent growers in fact some of the easiest I've ever grow.

The Plants I am growing are 2 - Nothernlights and 2- NorthernBerry. Both are supposed to finish in 8 -9 weeks.

I fliped the switch to 12/12 on December 8th
Thats 11 weeks ago now???

I wonder if I should have started counting from first show of flowering which would have been about a week or two after flipping to 12/12 and that would now put my girls at 9 weeks old.

I've been checking with a microscope and things are just starting to get cloudy now but mostly still clear (maybe 5-10% cloudy). I was wonting to get a bit of amber into these plants as well for a bit more of a couch lock.

The buds are still swelling like crazy and you can even see in come of the pictures that the buds are creating off shoots and creating even more pointy buds. The hairs are still white and only a few orange hairs and the orange hairs have yet to receed as of yet.

I want to wait it out too see if the trich's ever get fully cloudy and even a bit amber but if they've been in flower for 11 weeks I don't want to have them go too long either.

Thoughts?

No thoughts Huh. Do they look close to finished from the pictures I posted?

Is it a guarantee that trichs will eventually change color, or do some plants always stay clear?

Just seems odd that 11 weeks in and the hairs are mostly still white and the trichs are still very clear.

The first pic looks about 1-2 weeks from being done. The others look at least 3 weeks away to me. All of your pistils will turn orange and die back, ( then fill in with green ) well before your trichs will start turning amber. Just based on leaf structure ( not the name of the beans) both plants look sativa/haze dom and could easily take 12weeks from first sign of pistils if so. Just my 2cents.

they look like theyre just about done, you could wait another week, 2 tops and then chop, or you could chop now. but from the looks of it they're just about done. how long ago did those last white pistils pop? those last 2 pictures need more time though, prolly 3 weeks like the guy above me said. are you flushing? looks like you have too much nitrogen uptake and its making them continue to flower instead of finishing.

Yeh, the first one looks about done. The rest still have some time. Have you flushed the big girl in the first pic yet? If not, get to it. maybe nute the others another week or two and then flush. Some like to put in 48 hrs dark just before chopping while drying out for an extra trich boost. They look healthy, though...Good job, Harveyj:tiphat:

The last set of white pistils poped about a week ago. the plants are filling in huge like i've never had before.

I've not fed the plants in the last two weeks except molasses with every watering which is only once a week. I assumed that there was too much N in the soil as well and thats why they are not finishing off (yellowing and dropping leaves)

I don't flush my plants as I am an organic grower and I've always been told that you don't need to flush when growing organics. These huge buds have all been grown with bat guanno and earth worm castings, oh and some sea kelp :)

I'm in no hurry to harvest as I have plenty of dried bud to consume, so I'll keep waiting for the trichs to change.

Look at the change in this NorthernBerry plant in one month. Jan 22 to Feb 22 ;-)

Thanks for the info. I'll keep watching and waiting. No hurry, I've waited this long why chop early after investing all this time.

I've grown dozens of different strains and NEVER has one been fully ripe in the time the breeder says. I don't think they start counting until pistils start forming so add a couple of weeks of 12/12 for that. Then the harvest time they give is the earliest possible time when a bud could perhaps just start to be considered harvestable. You aren't going to let them go to long if only a few trichs are even cloudy yet and the plant is still pumping out new flowers. Give it a few weeks more, especially since you like a more couchlock leaning high.

I think they need a couple more weeks at least, but they do look good :)
I'm of the opinion that I want to wait until the pistils recede into the calyx, and they swell with resin yum!

By the way, I noticed that some flowers are shooting out of the sides of the main cola, what is the term for when the flowers foxtail outwards like that?
It reminds me of a starburst pattern if viewed from above.

Watch the trichs... The yellowing 'could' be a sign that she is finishing, but if the buds are exploding do you have some new 'light green' shoots in the buds? Mine did that just before they were done. Although not the same strains. They do look nice..
