well not sure Ive even seen someone using LEDs for clones, Ive seen it once in weedworld but...

for led's you would need small lights, and you would want a mix spectrum.. if your talking sole blue or white, well pure blue wouldn't help you, and white would be fine though

I use T-5's for clones, but Im sure some small wattage led's would work fine, if you get some big size ones, make sure and keep them far distance

the choice is yours, just know I think many have not used LED"s for cloning.. but not saying it wouldn't work, just clones need small light or they won't produce roots how we want them to

For me, "Be Irie" (at another site) did the definitive test grow for the Procyon 100 LED light (i.e., no good for flower).
Last I read, he now only uses the Procyon for clones--he said they love it, IIRC.

I bought a couple of Sunshine Systems GlowPanel 45 lights for clones and seedlings. The babies love them. They run cool to the touch; you can safely keep them close for nice, bushy clones.

BTW, that is not to say LED is better than florescent for this purpose--just that they work well. I'm using T5s on a group of babies now. They work great, too.

T8's work just as well. Clones don't want or need alot of light.

clones really don't need much light, in fact they shouldn't have much light. I couldn't see justifying the expense of leds just for clones unless I was trying to save some serious electricity and run only a few watts....and in that case I'd just buy a small led lightbulb.

edit: I think blue light promotes roots...which would equate to a "daylight" cfl..for a 21" x 15" cloner you'd really only need a 10-15w cfl ... I have a 8watt led bulb I got at lowes that I bet would work good for that area, but it was around 25$

here's 2 I made that run with 18 or 23w cfl. the one on the left was moved over to the right in the shaded area of the box and worked better then in the direct light.

the lighting I use in these is way overkill and I could probably get away with 5 watts of led but I like to be able to veg in them as well.

When you say "for clones" do you want to use the light meanwhile the clones are rooting?

If so the most simple T5 if you have more clones or an even more simple fluorescent light bulb if you got just a few clones will work just fine.
Don't even worry about the spectrum of the light emitted...because it won't matter.

Personally I use whatever light shines on them from the vegging lights a few feet away.

Not my pictures, just some generic ones I Googled for you.
