HAND water pumps????

hi all.
by this i mean hand operated pumps. im really thinking like grampa and gramas old pump in the back yard. pump the lever and out comes water. i looked at some online and wow, they are a bit pricey.
i have ideas like pounding a stake in a small pond or creek bank, attaching a hand pump to it in a permanate or nuts and bolts so you can take it off way. i assume you attach a hose that hangs in the water for sucking and then pump away.?? easy container filling in the outdoors??no electricity needed. possible to hide pump in the outdoors so it wont be found. how far can it push water??? 100 meters through a hose?? up a small hill???
what about attaching it to a tree close to your grow. 50 meters of hose srtetching to water source. and another 20 or more meters on the out end of the pump leading to your grow.
with 100 meters of hose i could water 2 different spots in opposite directions of each other just by carrying pump to the spot and attaching it to the already hidden hose. hook or hang on a tree and hand pump.
tell me what you think. why havent i heard more on this? direct me to some experiences you had with these pumps.
i think these things just explode water out. of course size of piston would matter but i think a smaller one would work real good.
any insight welcome.
thanks, little j.

Good idea about a pump and a stream, but that type of pump won't push water up a hill. It may be able to pull water up but priming is going to be needed every time the pump gets moved.I would look more toward a hand crank pump like you find on a oil drum for pumping fuel or chemical type stuff. one hose end in the stream the other where you need it and crank like hell.
Just my 2 cents.

hi pearl. i have looked at the crank pumps you mention and they look interesting. 1 hose in the stream, 1 hose lays in your patch, crank it and move water for a few minutes and soak the ground. very nice.
im also thinking about the barrel pumps they have to move oil and stuff. just for easy filling containers. put in a stream and pump a little to fill containers for transport. made of plastic so you can leave them out in the forest hidden when you need them.

The section of hose running between the water source and the pump not only needs to be primed, but it is experiencing a suction, and is prone to collapse if not made from a strong material.

yes the whole priming thing is a bit of a problem i found. i would love to hang this pump and a hose over a water hole and pump it by hand a few times and push water through some lines to my spots. even pvc up to the pump and then some thinner hose out to the spots. can you imagine a spider web of thinner lines running out in 3 or 4 differrent directions to you spots and all you have to do is hang the pump from a post or tree, connect your pvc up to the pump and hand pump water out to all the spots for 5 or 10 minutes at the same time. that would make things easy.
more ideas welcome. thanks,little j.
