So here is where I'm at currently

day 32 of 12/12

dealing with some fungus gnats right now, but they dont seem out of control.

ordered some BT based products yesterday, and am also using DE to try and deal with them. Put down a top coat of neem/karanja meal as well.

Apart from that, I have zero complaints about how this grow is going. Everything has been fairly stable throughout the grow, knocking on wood here....

Spent some time the last few nights going through and picking off large fan leaves that are covering bud sites. There is obviously a ton of debate on this, but it seems that light getting to the buds makes a huge difference in how they finish out, imho......

It exposed a ton more bud sites.

First pics are from this morning under the HPS. The other pics are from the 17th and are under camera flash.

My pics and skills suck, I need to work on them. but at least the buds rock!!!!

Hello Glodenglow1,

Im currently starting a SCROG grow in an 8x4 box and appear to be using the same screen that you are. Did you get that stuff in a big roll from home depot? Anyway, looks like the same exact material only your appears to be 2'' holes where mine is 1'' (too small).

The problem Im having is that the mesh started to sag once installed, like it was melting and gravity was pulling it down. My canopy temps range 80-85 degrees so I find it very weird that this was happening, not like intense heat causing it to melt. I removed it and the screen is deformed and curling up on the edges.

I dont have mine secured to a frame like you, but did you notice any change in form with the screen?

Thanks

got it in a big roll at Ace or equivalent. 2" holes are critical imho, 1" would be a bit small for all the training I like to do.

Mine is zip tied pretty tight to the aluminum frame, so dont experience any sagging, and this is the second grow with it.

How is your screen secured? Are your lights really close? got any pics?

Ya you must of gotten the same stuff only the 2'' variety - looks exactly the same. I had to make the 1'' holes 2'' tho, maybe the "structural integrity" of the mesh was compromised.

My screen is secured by adhesive hooks I have stuck to the inside the grow box.

Bascially, a few hours after I installed the mesh, it started to sag like it was meltine. I have 2 400s about a foot under them in cooled chambers tho, so it must be really pathetic plastic to change form so quickly.

I just picked up some stuff to make a frame and will staple gun the mesh to it. If it still doesn't work, at least I have the frame to put different mesh on..

Thanks KW31, already dreading the trim job I got in front of me. But that is certainly one of the nicer problems "to have" in life by my estimates.

I've been pretty aggressive with fan leaf trimming this round, anything that is blocking light to a bud sight is coming off.

Still have CO2 going, though this will be the last tank for the grow and should have another 4 days left on the tank

golden glow its nice to see you returned to pimp those screens some more. im glad you had a successful harvest of quality nugs and not less than 2 lbs of sub par "green????" nugs patients would not be happy with... ughh. some people... anyway man, your certainly killing it, hope you stick around. as far as gnats go, when you say bt products i assume you mean dunks and the like right? im about to try these myself as the price of azamax deems it somewhat expensive to use as a soil drench for gnats. but it works great, i can tell you. that coupled with those yellow square fold-able sticky traps around my trunks at the soil line has been getting me by nicely but becomes costly. peace!

Nameless,

Thanks for stoppin through. I do mean the BT dunks.

so I gotta share a bit on a cold friday night.........

it is so freaking crazy in that room right now.

should be about 2.5 more weeks before the chop.

The stink is pretty much permeating through my living space right now, expecially when the big fan kicks on and the lights are off.

Gotta love that, fortunately I live on 5 acres.

Did a vac in the room today to clean up a bit, also used it to remove some dead leaves in the undercanopy.

My BT based mosquito dunkss arrived today, gonna get them worked in toniight and probably watered in tomorrow night

Wassup Critter?

You know me, I like to travel far and wide for enlightenment.

I'm around day 44 of flower

Gave a watering a couple of nights ago with some BT to kill fungus gnats. Mostly a water feeding, added a little soluable seaweed for some K towards the end of flower.

Still going through and trimming fan leaves. I've never been this aggressive with trimming before, and I am totally into removing fan leaves at this point. Perhaps it will come back and bite me with reduced potency, but I doubt it. Removing the fan leaves is opening up the canopy and causing previously undevelooped bud sites to frekaing awell.

Any leaf that is blocking a bud site, or is yellowing gets taken off. I doubt these leaves are photosynthetically productive in an efficient way anyway. Of course I have no technical data to back that statement up, just stoner sciene at its best

Very nice even canopy, bud sizes and healthy looking plants. I like your work Glodenglow1.

I used the mosquito bits to get rid of fungus gnats. They work but take like 3-4 weeks.
