Yellowing and rusting...hot soil? Bad water? You tell me!

Hi y'all.

Got my half rdwc, half soil, setup all built.

First timer here.

Like all first timers, I imagine, my babies got a little bit of nute burn from being overzealous about the root enhancer and liquid karma, just a liiiitle too early.

Now, I have 9 of one variety of bag seed ( haze rhino cross, afaik), and 6 of a mystery kush. Going on week 4 from seed, now under 600w mh. They ate in small pots, maybe half gallon, one gallon? And they are all showing this yellowing and rusting. It started at the lower leaves and is rapidly advancing towards the top.

The kushs have the rams horn and/or taco leaf something fierce. Been showing it from the beginning.

I took 4 clones from one haze cross and 2 clones from another about 3 or 4 days. and I'm hoping that they root so I can throw them in the buckets and stop worrying about these plants.

In full disclosure:
Tap water here is 8.1, 225ppm.
Have been fed half to quarter strength AN nuts with cal mag, last week.
I did a lousy job of keeping a wet and dry cycle for this soil...left them sitting in standing water in nursery trays :(.
The pots spent a while on cold uninsalted concrete floor.

Also:
How long has this problem been going on? 2 weeks perhaps
What STRAIN are you growing? Bagseed for all intents and purposes
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) seed
What is the age of your plants? 4 weeks
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now? 3 weeks
Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not, what mixture were they in before? Yes, rapid rooters came straight from float and grow.
How Tall are the plants? 9 inches
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? Veg
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) sog as of now.
What size pots are you using? < one gallon pots.
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) fox forest happy frog
What brand Nutrient's are you using? AN micro grow and bloom, calmag. Though switching to Lucas with floranovs series.
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
How often are you feeding? Every other or every third watering, which happens every 2 days or so. Get loquid karma sporadically
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS? Everytime I make water.
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen? Ph pen.
How often are you watering? Every 2 daysish.
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? 3 days ago. That was first substantial feeding.
What size bulb are you using? 600
How old is your bulbs? New
What is the distance to the canopy? 16 inches
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) 35-40
What is the canopy temperature?
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)day:72-76,night:68-72
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)424, on speed controller for sound.
Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ? Fan kicks in at 78 and brings temps to 72. Running co2 at 1500ppm when the fan is off.
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? I run a fan half the time
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? Inclined to say thAt it has spent a significant amount of its life moist.
Is your water HARD or SOFT? Hard as a rock is what I think you guys are going to tell me.
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? Tap
If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap?(Only if you have a tds pen) 225 ppm+
If using RO,Distilled, mineral water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS without any additives?(Only if you have a tds pen)
Are you using water from a water softener?I do not believe so.
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? Cloned, but this is a universal problem.
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? Nope
Are plant's infected with pest's? Should hope not.

So obviously if they're root bound, repot.
If it's water, buy filter.

I heard I could foliar feed them as a plan of action????
What's the intimate details of that?

have u looked at the stickey under this section in the cannabis infirmary. The sticky called the complete guide to sick plants ph and pest trouble.
Check out the section on calcium.
Souds like u could have a cal def could be for many reasons. The cold floor could have messed up the roots absorption or something and repotting coulndt hurt but if they are only 9 inches tall and 4 weeks in, they shouldnt be root bound. I dont think thats it. i think its a cal problem or cal mag problem combined.
U said u may have burnt them a little to begin with.
I suggest u flush them immediatly with 3-4 gallons per one gallon pot, measuring the runoff can keep u from flushing extra, but it may take that much flushing. U can check ur ph run off and ppm and if the ppm is high and ph is low proly locked up nutes.
High ppm runoff means the plants arent eating as much as u put into the soil for some reason.
I recently had some plants doing the same thing u described , u can check out my thread in this same section called " Is this calcium deficency. I also had some tacod leaves in the past and the mag straigted it out, but only seemingly after I flushed and got all the nutrients in the medium back in balance, with extra cal mag of course.

A good foliar regime will keep u in the game until u can get ur root zone recovered.
Not sure exactly where Id start, but cal mag sounds like a definate for foliar feed. I may would foliar feed for a few days until plants recover and I would give them a base nutrient foliar feed also. Me personaly I just usualy do it at differnt times the different feeds, but u can combine them if u dont go too strong. Plants love a good foliar feed.

check my thread here. see if pics are same. i am still trying to figure out if it's toxicity or deficiency. ugh!!! i too fed calmag plus and it isnt helping so that is why i am thinking now more towards toxicity, but i dont know how cause my plants have only been in that medium (MG) for about 4 weeks. although i have read that the leaves, once they yellow, dont change back to green. anyone verify this?

Phzing to about six.

I will cheCK the calcium deficiency thread.

Thanks for the heads up!

I got an undersink filter today. Hoping that will help my ppm.

So it's calcium deficiency? Or abundance of something else?

I read I could put lime pellets from home depot in the soil andmafter watering my ph would stabilize closer to 6? Thoughts on that?

I'm thinking that I will foliar feed along with flushing and perhaps a soil amendment?
Sound like a good plan of action?

Thanks everyone! Peeeeeeeace and good vibrations.

it does sound like a good plan. Make sure to flush good, and if ur lime is pellets u should grind it up good. I didnt ammend my affected plants soil cause they were already in it, but I did ammend all future promix with lime at 4 cups to a 3.8 cu ft bale.
after flushing good my plants resumed normal growth. the affected spots stay that way , but at least it still can finsih up pretty. the foliars I think is what kept me in the game when I had that prob
