Homebox XS, 4x55w Pl-l and 4 strains

High all! Here's my first micro grow, quite different from what I've done before. But I think it will be fun, if perhaps a little difficult.

System is Homebox XS, two fixtures on yoyos with 2x55W Pl-l @6500K, so 220 W max. For flowering I'm considering (partially) switching to 3000K Pl-ls. Inside the box there's a Canfilter 600, a 100mm fan inside the tube, speed controlled. Inside there is a PC fan powered by a Nokia charger. Medium is All-mix.

I'm trying four strains, Pahari Farmhouse from RSC, (thanks Panta!), Herijuana from Motarebel (thanks llama!), Kush #37 & Molokai Frostx(MolokaiFrostxStrawberryWebb) from a friend overseas that sadly isn't here. I put 16 seeds in soil 01.02, and 15 sprouted during 04/05. The idea is to end up with max 8-9 plants, and hopefully make some seeds of the Molokai.

So there will be LST'ing, pruning, pinching, and I don't know what yet :). All I know is that it will be challenging... Specially the Pahari will be tricky. But it finishes early for a sativa, so it fits in this grow. Also I like the high :).

They are now under a single fixture 24/0, keeping temps under 25C and air humidity up. That's it for now :). I'll update as it progresses. Advice is welcome, but perhaps not always taken .

peace & love,

Nice Setup :)

For flowering I'm considering (partially) switching to 3000K Pl-ls.
Why do you just consider it? 3000K PL-Ls are perfect for flowering, at least if you are not eager to get leaves :) You could leave the 6400K in there for the first weeks of flowering to prevent excessive stretching but the 3000K is superior afterwards.

Hi guys,
auto_guerilla: they are 4 days in the overview picture.

Garuda: well, I'm also considering a 250HPS or CMH even, but I'm leaning strongly towards your suggestion. Temps are easier, and colour reproduction is much nicer under Pl-l. Growing for me is a lot about the relationship I have with the plants while they grow, and I love the natural colours I get under 6500K. I didn't know leafiness could be an issue, so thanks for sharing your experiences, Garuda. I looked at your setup even before getting mine, so I already owe you thanks for sharing that.

Not much happening in a day, except for the Paharis, who are really taking off. A couple skipped the singel fan-leaf stage and went straight to three :). Very vigorous strain!

Pahari today, 5 days since sprouting.

1 week

1 week

1 week from sprouting today, a little dry this morning. The Pahari is the most vigorus by far. I forgot to mention, both the Heri and the Kush comes from purple moms...

Here's a picture :).

Hi again, quick update in busy days...

@heady: the fixtures are from a local shop, no brand, model or any marking at all, sorry...

Things are going well, swithed to proper pots 1 week ago, now in 1,8l.
Soon decisions has to be made as far as technique... The Pahari #1 is racing along, perhaps a male?

Here's a picture from two days after transplant, and one from today, 17 days from sprouting...
Herijuana front row, Kush row 2, Molokai row 3 and Pahari in the back :).

Hi Glaus, thanks for stopping by :).

Here is a picture from today, now three weeks from sprouting.
I 've topped the Paharis at 2/3/4 node, depending on individual sizes. My only issue with the box, is keeping humidity up. So I'm running the exhaust fan on low and misting with plain water now and then. No ferts yet. The All-Mix is working well, I think. I'll probably switch to 12/12 in a day or two, and also switch two 6500K bulbs for 2700K for the first two weeks of flowering.

That setup looks awesome and it seems to be working quite well, really nice green lush plants you have there. The way I keep my humidity up in my grow(very similarly sized to yours, just not as much height) is by running a humidifier right next to the passive intakes. That way they get a constant flow of nice fresh humid air. You should try to squeeze some more lights in there for flowering :).

Thanks dundee & cheese :tiphat:

@dundee: I wish I had space for humifier but there is only 5 cm space on each side of the tent which sits on top of a clothescabinet and behind a curtain... Stealth is crucial, and my gf won't let me modify the semi antique cabinet. I am thinking about some extra lights - (LOL aren't we always?), but haven't decided how to yet. I think I can fit 4 CFL's in 20-30w range in between the plants when I get the numbers down to 8 or 9...

As far as functionality of this light/tent combo I have to say I think it works great for veg. I've vegged under 400MH, 400HPS, 600HPS and different combos of the two, but this is actually better. Tighter internodes, less stress, low power, low heat, stealthy... :).

Hi Glaus, nice to see you

Well, the flower show is on it's way :). I switched to 12/12 three days ago, and also switched two 6500K bulbs for 2700K. They also got their first liquid fert, BioBloom in medium strength. They've been a little dry, but nothing serious. Also a couple have been growing into the bulb, getting a little fried on the leaf tips. In other words, they are growing fast! I've done a little topping and pinching on the stretchiest ones, we'll see how it works out. Most important now is finding the males, so I can transplant the ones that will go all the way.

I've been fantasizing about putting my 400HPS in there, perhaps just for a few hours each day, but I think it'll remain a fantasy :). I think I'll let the Pl-l's have their chance - from what I've seen in grows like yours, Glaus, they can do pretty well...

Ok, a couple of pics.. I've rearranged them according to height, bringing the Paharis to front where I can reach them more easily ;). The Heris are in the rear, being the slowest and shortest. The single one is a Kush, just to get a better idea of the size and development... Oh, they've just been misted in the pic.

Definitely, just keep the light as close as possible. This can be pretty tricky in the early flowering days but will be rewarded in the end :) Your plants are in very good shape :)
