Its not that we are saying that Maine is the better place to move... its the better place to live. If you are moving to one of the two states move to Michigan simply because you can sell to dispensaries there.

I can't see Michigan allowing suppliers to supply dispensaries for much longer though. I'd imagine that only has a few months left. And at 4K a pound? That's a great price, I'm happy for you Michigan caregivers. Not bad to be able to walk in and make that kind of money without knowing people.
You'd imagine they will find a way to tax the dispensary owners at a much higher rate should they go the way of CO and require the owners to grow their own meds.
i spent the better half of my youth traveling all over North America... spent sometime in Maine, and never met so many generous people. hitchhiking was breeze... id get rides in 5 minutes. cops easy to deal with. i got caught with an open container in the park, cops just made me pour it out. got busted on railroad property by the cops twice... let go both times. beautiful state. summer temperatures are damn near perfect. bud that the locals kicked down to me was amazing.
also -- who cares if you go up there and can't tap into the local market. go down to mass and sell it. i'm sure you'll find some market in a city like boston.

Born and raised in Michigan, and i can tell you..
THERE ARE NO JOBS here. Ive been layed off for 4 months, actively seeking employment the whole time, ive managed to scrape out 1 interveiw a month. And so far no employment!
There has been a large influx of what use to be "factory" workers, fighting for the minimum wage jobs only teenagers use to do!
the day i fight over a job as head fry cook at McD's is the day i die.
the medical marijuana business is booming in the capitol city, many new shops, and ALOT of new caregivers. Wether or not you could make ends meat selling overages to them i have no clue.
It has often crossed my mind these past couple months.. to drop whats left of my savings into upgrading my Op and try to obtain some patients to supply.
But the place i live is small and shitty.. as i cant afford anything better, and ill soon lose even this hobble if i cant find some form of income soon.
i dread the day i have to join the ranks of those "michigan refugee's" leaving state to find work.
hoping and praying michigan can kick it up! and shake off this ugly'ness were in.

Any Michigan growers want to comment on where they Michigan going in the next year or two? Do you think there will be restrictions on dispensing overages to the dispensaries anytime soon?
doesn't look like it to me. these are "clubs" and "co-ops". and we "donate" our overages. special language. patient to patient monetary transfers are 100% legal in our very vague law. if they really felt like they could challenge it, they would of already. now they did bust dispensaries for selling/buying from those without cards. they're going after them if they're not in the boundaries of the law.
a whole slew of lawsuits going on right now, patients suing the cities that passed ordinances banning MMJ. that's what i'm watching.

Thanks for posting. I'm watching too. As you know, a whole slew of lawsuits pending from all sides right now. Some sheriffs just can't seem to wrap their head around the concept of accepting laws they may not agree with, it seems. Particularly out in the country.
Insofar as I can tell, wholesaling lends to 4K+ in MI, whereas the sick get their meds for free or close enough. That is the perfect combination of fair numbers and compassion IMO.

I dont know us michiganders are a much different breed than the folks out in Colorado. I think if the state goes the length Colorado went making people send live feeds via webcam to the police from there grows and dispensaries growing 70 percent of there own medicine. That would send many legal growers back underground. In a state as economicaly raveged as ours with so many people depending on this income that would cost them all alot of votes also. Even the way the law is written 2.5 zips per patient, a dispensary really would have no way of staying with in the law and growing\storing enough meds to keep the doors open.
I spent time living in a few different states (Mass, NH, Maine, Texas, California)
I live in Maine now, have been here for 15+ years now. I have a wife and 2 kids, no other place Id rather raise my kids than Maine. The state is pretty diverse, crime isnt a big problem and I like the season changes.
The diversity is great especially if you like the outdoors. Mountains, lakes, serious forest areas, beaches its all pretty much there. In the southern part of the state is where most of the population lives. Portland is a great small city w/ an awesome food scene, great bars and clubs and just a good overall vibe.
The MMJ scene here is just starting to take off. The dispensary issue is a problem with most Mainers. BUT, the caregiver scene is really starting to blossom. There are a couple grass roots organizations really stepping up and connecting patients to caregivers.
Caregivers are allowed 6 flowering plants per patient, plants in veg stage are not included in plant count. Each caregiver is allowed to take on a maximum of 5 patients.

Michigan is a great place to live, but just like everywhere else it has good and bad areas, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to realize this.
As far as 12 plants goes, thats for one patient. If you are a caregiver you can have up to five patients = 72 plants.
I can drive an hour or less from any city and make it to a great beach on a great lake, and the micro brew scene is one of the top in the country.

If you want to move here, Dont come to Oakland....Yet. I predict this area to BOOM within the next ten years. If you come here now, Go to Ann Arbor or into a county thats not attacking all the new businesses surrounding the MM law.

For me, any good qualities these states may have are overridden by the fact that weather is absolute dogshit a literally majority of your life. That's no way to live IMO.
It's not a matter of toughness. It just sucks when you can't even enjoy walking your dog because you have to look for ice every step. And going to the store to get some milk is like a project, warming the car, scraping, bundling up, checking road conditions, etc. Then when you walk outside your face literally hurts. It's an instant diminishment of quality of life.
If the cops see your grow, you're going to catch shit almost everywhere outside of Norcal bro. That's not a rule but generally it's true. I just can't see living in dogshit weather just for some additional gray area.
I've been in and out of Michigan and decided I'm out, even with the easy money made here in this weed game. It's just a shit quality of life for my tastes, goals, and ambitions.
I'd rather heighten my chance of prison whilst fishing for tarpon on my boat with no shirt on in January.

Michigan is great.. 11,000+ inland lakes with excellent fishing, The great lakes also excellent fishing. Hunting in Michigan is also some of the best, not known for trophy animals.. but none the less bad ass hunting. There's almost every type of recreation avail here in Michigan too! My favorite season is the fall... nothing like it. I've never been to Maine, but personally all northern states have a special nostalgia. Even winter as much of a bitch as it is... tons of fun to be had in it. Sitting around a warm fire being snowed in... makes for some good memories. But if your not much of an outdoor person perhaps Michigan nor Maine is for you.
