Get some Mosquito Dunks from home depot and put them in your rez ,If you don't have a rez
mix it in your flush water ....I promise this works you might have to do it 2 or 3 times or leave a dunk in your water but it helps I do it all the time. Mosquito Dunks kill all types of bad larvae quick and dead ,and its safe

^ This. In the past I've actually broken up the dunks and sprinkled a bit in each pot, it worked great for me...

Mosquito Dunks don't do a thing to springtails, and if you put one in your rez
anyway, make sure to put it in a sock or stocking. They make a HUGE mess when
they break up. SM-90 works better.

I've used it to try to get rid of larvae it doesn't work, It just smells good .

"Improves spray coverage in soil and plants"

"lengthens contact and controls of sprays improves lateral movement in soils"

"increases the speed of moisture penetration in soil and medias"

"reduces surface tension of spray nozzles and irrigation systems helping to maintain lines and drippers"

This is off of the bottle sitting in front of me.It has no value for killing anything, your other option is Azamax or Azatrol expensive but it works

They don't eat your roots...they eat dead plant matter-- I had them last year, and tho they created quite an infestation in my soil, they done no harm to the plants--
I got rid of them with Azatrol--:tiphat:

Everyone's recommending lots of things, but I wouldn't put ANYTHING on my plants without first being sure what it was I was going after...especially in flowering. If you can't put a picture up here, just look at some online and narrow it down.

I'm not really worried about it, they will be eradicated for my next grow, but would like to know if they are benifical or not.

Unless it's a spider, a praying mantis or a ladybug, I don't regard any insects in the growroom as beneficial. Even if it's something harmless like a fungus gnat or springtail, if you've created an environment where some uninvited bug can frolic with 10,000 members of his immediate family... well then next time they might not be so friendly.

Just my 2 cents.

Just knocked out the same infestation with a light perlite mulching ... a sprinkle of DE... and some mosquito dunk crumbles... :whee:

I didn't know what they were either but i do this for fungus gnats and it worked on these critters too... took less than a week.. they were in the millions ... they came with my coco... :dunno:

Good to know the mosquito dunks worked for you. I'm guessing it was botanicare coco you got 'em from? They don't heat treat theirs...supposed to be a selling point, but I could've done without the springtails living in it.

SM-90

SM-90 is your main defense (alongside loving attention and tender care) against fungus or bugs. Prepared from natural plant oils, not synthetic chemicals, it is completely non-toxic to humans, animals, and of course plants. It is bio-degradable and friendly to the environment and it smells good!

As a root disease inhibitor, it is effective treatment for pathogens including fusarium, pythium, rhizoctonia, phytopthera, sclerotinia, etc. etc. etc., just file them under Plague. Add small quantities to the nutrient solution to ward off root infestation and as a bonus, it encourages new root growth. Treated plants will develop greater root area, expanded root room and will generally exhibit a bonny root development.

To repel invasive insects, try applying SM-90 directly on to foliage or grow medium to discourage and scatter such pests as Aphids, Spider Mites, White flies, and the diabolically named Thrip, amongst others. Not only effective against infestations directly, SM-90 is believed to inhibit future insect colonization or re-infestation. Not a foothold, no matter how many legs they got.

Directions for use
For root treatment: add 2-3 ml to each gallon of nutrient solution on a weekly basis or whenever solutions are replaced. Routine use will provide preventative treatment to keep problems from developing during all stages of growth.

For stem and leaf treatment and for use on insects: dilute 1 part SM-90 with 5 parts water to prepare a concentrate spray.

Thanks Kcar, I will most definitely be using SM-90 on my next run. Peace and Happy Holidaze!
