Re-using smart pots?

I have heard you can. Anything I should know?

THe stores in my area don't have the size i need, and i need them asap.

I was planning on brushing the dirt, and any roots off with a coarse brush, and then rinsing them very well.

Maybe some h202 to sterilize?

Luckily the pots they are going into were from a friends abandoned run. So they didn't go through an entire life cycle. Just a month or more of veg, so they aren't in too bad of shape.

SHould I do this, or just switch to the traditional style pots.

Or the knock off smart pots?

i wash and reuse beer cups till they crack apart. my soil is reused for years. smart pots would get a trip to my slop sink for a shpritz!

I have reused mine on several occasions. I just soaked them in bleach and water for a night, rinsed them with clean water for a while, let them dry, and repot.

Use gentle cycle if you use a washing machine (so they say).

I haven't reused mine yet but the bleach in a utility sink is probably the way I'll go.
I was thinking of soaking in enzymes but I guess roots will not be really stuck in the fabric(?).

do this....shake them down... turn inside out... spray down with pressure.... rinse off.. throw in trash bag... go to a laudry mat and throw them in a commercial washer....

I have some SmartPots that are over 4 years old. Cleaning them completely between cycles is important.

Here's the easiest way - knock out as much of the material clinging to the inside of the cloth pot as possible. Haul them down to a laundromat and shove them into a washer with about 1/2 - 1 cup of Oxyclean or you can use hydrogen peroxide - same thing.

Just let them spin-dry - that's all that is required, i.e. no need to put them into the dryer as they'll be almost completely dry. Dry enough at any rate.
