never used it myself, but ammonia would add pure N. I assume any beneficial bacteria you currently have would likely break it down into usable N

Quote from gardenguides.com:

With the presence of beneficial bacteria in the pond, ammonia is broken down into plant food through a process called the Nitrogen cycle. This cycle of converting ammonia first into nitrite and then into nitrate occurs in the surface layers of mud on the pond floor or in bio-filters. The presence of oxygen in the water is also needed as is an alkalinity of no less than 20 mg/L. The end product is nitrate which is used by water plants as fertilizer.

Also Jack's Professional Calcium Nitrate(Cal-Trate) is 15-0-0 and Magnesium Nitrate(Mag-Trate) at 10-0-0 found at jacksprofessional.com

Humboldts verde is what id use for n boost 16-1-2
Primary ingrediant urea
Before using that how did you come to the conclusion he is lacking N? Have you checked PH?Where is it yellowing?

Hey PoopyTB, I don't think Humboldt's verde is a good choice for your recirculating system, it looks highly organic.

Your post brings up a really good question because I don't know of any non-organic N supplement. Looks like the nitrogen mononutrient from Canna might work though. Good find HellsWinter.

Sorry i should have explained using verde in his situation a bit..In his situation id foliar verde with a wetting agent during lights off with humidity controlled. There is foliar directions on the container.

ps smell is foul like dark energy :) cheers

Also i forgot to mention in case verde and the smell is to much and possibly if you wanted to add to your root zone house and garden has a product not found in many areas and its called n 27..its 27% nitrogen and it being house and garden i imagine it is clean. This is one product i have not tested so i can not give any feedback and im also not sure if there is foliar directions so i dont know if id use it for that purpose.

Agreeed, Verde is the best bang for the buck for N in the hydro store, I use it all the time. I think it's like 16-0-1? It's 50% Urea, about the strongest you can get your hands on. Don't pay for water!

Her's the best. Espoma dried blood. 12-0-0. Mix it in with your soil or soiless mix and N deficiencies are a thing of the past. Lush and green. my .02. THE best bang for your buck. While you're at it some Espoma bone meal will break down through the veg period and promote good root growth and heavy flowers later on.
