If you set a standard and made that standard the standard then they would all look just like your standard standardized them to look.

Now let's look into making a standard... maybe we could get the FDA involved?

I think the shady clinics/spots are there to cater to the custie peoples who wouldn't normally be allowed to roll up to the legit candy store dressing/acting like a buster

sometimes its good sometimes its bad

I agree, make your own club and set it up how you like it..if it works, people will catch on and start jocking your new style.

Personally if I had a club I would keep it real clean, nice up scale furniture no weed decor everywhere, I would have two female bud tenders both knowledgeable and cannabis literate age over 21 but not over 25. They would be in white coats but would be asked to dress comfortably and professionally. I love a nurse that can pull off that professional sexy look.

Strain names would be more professional too..none of this green crack or herojuana

if i want crack or heroin we know where to get it...this is weed.. its bad enough it comes in little crack vials, its just weed stop calling it crack or herojuana please.

I want legit medical strain names or just go off the smell and start calling them by how they smell or how they get you high instead of bunk marketing names.

ie. thunder OG super bubble berry can be like upper fruit or upper berry...if its sativa dom o whatever. The patients should want to know okay is this going to get my stoned or high..what strains are best for what...

Personally, the only thing I'd judge a pot depot by is
Firstly... the quality of weed
Secondly... the customer service and helpfulness of staff

not about weather it looks like a pharmacy or someones living room. the dog gives it character

herijuana is the name of the strain. Its not up to you to change it because you don't like it. Green crack too.

About the dispensaries I agree they should be professional, but at the same time this is not FDA approved and it never will be. Just like people that put crystals on your belly and chant incantations to atlantis. It is and always will be considered alternative medicine. I personally believe we all have the right to choose the type of medicine we feel comfortable with.

I don't believe in atlantis crap but its not for me to go to one of those places and tell them to take the unicorns and shit off their walls because its unprofessional. They cater to a certain type of person who feel comfortable in a certain atmosphere.

I'd give this advice to any white man/westerner. For thousands of years we conquered, killed, and enslaved much of the world. We have a natural idea that if something isn't how we like it we should force it to change... or else. This is the 21st century and we need to let go of that type of thinking. If we don't want to die in a nuclear holocaust we got to get rid of that type of thinking anyway.

Its alternative medicine, not a hospital. So if some guy wants to deal with his chemo by laying on a bean bag in a dispensary, playing with a rain stick, and listening to bob marley thats his business. And you should mind your own. They have lots of dispensaries and you can simply pick the one you like. No need to force all others to conform to your ideals.

windsurfuer - the thing is though, is that its not what YOU think... its what the "naysayers" think... you know? the naysayers are the people who think the whole medical marijuana scene is a big sham... when they see photos of dispensaries that look like a dorm room, its not going to give them too good of an impression.... so if you have read the thread, the main point that myself and many others have been trying to get across is that if we plan on gaining acceptance from the naysayers, then we need to clean up our image a bit...

its like wearing jeans with holes in it, and a t-shirt, with a ball cap on to a job interview, versus wearing a suit and tie... the interviewer is not going to think too highly of the inappropriatly dressed person... maybe that person has a better skill set, and has more to offer then the guy who is wearing a suit, but unfortunately it does not matter because he gave a bad first impression...

the guy wearing the suit can slip his way into the position by looking professional... lets say he gets the job, and is good to go... THEN, when he gets the job, and his worthyness is proven to his employer, THEN he can start dressing however he may wish....he can wear jeans with holes in them to work... it does not matter... as long as he performs...

this analogy can go hand in hand with the whole "dispensary scene" and how its appearance needs to give a good impression so it can win over the thoughts and beliefs of the naysayers... hell, once every state sets up dispensaries, and the feds stop raiding... THEN the dispensaries can "Dress up" any way they wish...

until this concept is understood, then the naysayers and federal government will not be "hiring" any dispensaries... its sad, but true..

Wayne's got it right.

How are we ever supposed to get widespread medical cannabis when our dispensaries look like headshops/dorm rooms? It just further instills the idea that it's nothing but a bunch of stoner hippies.

It just doesn't represent anything medical. Remove the hippy propaganda, the posters, the beads, the incense, the tie dye. Create a sterile environment suitable for dispensing medication, and then maybe, just maybe the cause will be taken seriously.

As it is? It's a freakin' joke. It's like taking 1 step forward and 3 steps back.

I think you make a mistake in thinking you are going to change these old peoples minds. Don't worry they are dying. In another 10-15 years their opinions will truly be irrelevant and they'll be replaced by a different generation of senior citizens who are more tolerant.

I think some of you guys think there will be federally approved dispensaries like a real pharmacy or something. I think you are kidding yourself.

IMHO its always going to be an alternative medicine thing that most people think is a joke. You will never get federally approved dispensaries where people go in and choose different strains to smoke.

Don't get me wrong they'll come up with sativex and crap like that but they won't be pushing the MJ aspect of it I promise you. They will say they took all the "medicine" out of it and now its something new. Not pot anymore. They will always look down on us. Always.

You can try to get acceptance from them all you want. Just look how well its worked for Barack Obama. He placates to them all the time and look how much they love him. I think the better lesson to be learned from him is not to turn your back on the people who always supported you to try to appease people who never will.

Yes, I do agree with that. In that - what I have seen there is areas in the dispensaries to smoke. This should be stopped as there may be a lung sufferer whom smoke is very bad for and requires it taken in food, or chocolate. "smoking areas" should be banned.

But apart from that, yes, I think there should be regulations like any shop, but not sterilised like a hospital. Its a place to pick up herb. Nothing else. Often a herb grown outdoors in mother nature. This is not a "sterile" zone like a pharmacy and doctors surgerys. This is a herb depot.
The place should not look like a dorm room, or "hippy hangout/bob marley" themed room.

Should be much more like, strain in depth parent line, clone/soursage and in depth analysis of the strains and method they have been grown by... and a sativa up indica sleepy type of scale.

With free brochures of the benefits of medical mariujuana for all the (endless) ailments and unbelievable amount of beneficcial uses this plant has for society (not just in weed, hemp is miles faster than wood but can be used instead of trees helping to safekeep our rapidly declining rainforest and habitat to millions of other magnificent species that are going extinct at a faster rate now than ever, appallingly. And this continues

So yes lilWayne after considering you're point I would like to withdraw my earlier statement and change it with the one above:: and say these pot depots should not necessarily go for a "sterile" look, but undoubtedly a far more professional look, than the ones shown as examples in this thread. Like a shed one of us would use as our main smoking hangout in high school. Not good image to general public (considering we're looking to be "normal" and "necessary (ie medical)" to public

sad but true. you know what people are like

truthfully, out of all of the dispensary photos, and videos I have ever seen, not one of them would be the "ideal" dispensary that comes to my mind when I think of "medical" grade marijuana...

I see tie-dyed & bobmarley tapestries, peace signs, hear reggae music blasting, and see hip young youth with their red&blue died mohawks working behind the counters distributing the meds in the backgrounds in most of these dispensaries... COME ON NOW, that is NOT making the whole dispensary scene look good.

When I think dispensary, I think medical. When I think medical, I think "cleanliness" and "purity..." You would think that all of these dispensaries would try to uphold somewhat of a professional image- one that is both clean and pure. A pharmacy is basically what a dispensary can be compared to, since they both sell meds to the public... with that being said, these dispensaries should look like a pharmacy.

You can't tell me that these guys who run these dispensaries don't have the extra cash to spruce up the appearance of the pharmacies and make them more professional with the added touch of some nice furniture, cabinetry, wallpaper, lighting, and overall "professional" interior design...

with that being said, I'd like to make my post a little bit more along the lines of the OP's statement ...

These guys who run the dispensaries should really pay attention to what they are buying in bulk from growers. I am not sure if they have any practices under way where they test for mold, bugs, ripeness, or any unnatural pesticides or chemicals sprayed on, or within the marijuana- but if there is not anything in place, there really should be. I am pretty sure that in canada, they have to have all of their cannabis tested.

selling schwag brick weed to the public and trying to pass it off as medical grade is bologna

I am quite naive when it comes to alot of what the whole medical marijuana industry TRULY is about as I am in a non-med state with draconian laws, and rely on alot of my information from word of mouth (or fingers), but it all does seem quite obvious. I am not the brightest guy out there, and I am not truly THERE, so imagine what a truly bright, "mmj newcomer" man/woman looking into this whole medical marijuana scene here in the states would say?

I just think the owners need to start tightening up their ships if they TRULY want to convince the country that it is not a joke....

a dog sleeping on the couch? unprofessional...

this place above is very nice, but i doubt they need to have the bob marley photos on the wall, even though i love the guy - its just not professional in my opinion...

mrs. babba, this is the old dispensary you used to work at, and this is also your photo, if you do not appreciate me using them, i will gladly take them down for you, but I have talked to you about my opinion on the appearance of this place and you know how I feel it needs to be designed a little bit nicer and more professionally... I understand that it takes money to make things look professional, but truthfully, if you are going to start up a business, you should have the money to pay for a professional medical look...

P.S. if someone has pictures of a truly professional dispensary, please share!
Chill out bro c'mon. It's weed, I think the environment in all of those pictures was perfectly fine for me. It's better than walking into your drug dealers apartment with shit all over the place.

It looks like a bunch of hippies holding che guevera meetings though, not like a normal shop, or herbal medicine store. which is what it should resemble.

????????????????

First of all there isn't just one shop in that quoted post, so I can only assume you are speaking of all of them.

If you are trying to get ONE kind of shop that's just not American.

Tolerance will get you much farther than disdain... but that's just my take on it.

Perhaps in time I'll see the progress in cookiecutter dispensaries, but right now my mind is still adjusting to the xenophobic nature our community seems to be developing.
