Ebb & flo & grow bag ???

what medium would best in an Ebb & flo system using 2 gallon grow bags . was thinkin promix or hempy mix of 4 to 1 perilite & vermiculite . also would it be beneficial to have a grow mat or hydrotron for the bags to sit in or on ?

have wanted to set up an ebb& flo tray but not sure of the best method & medium ... there are just too many choises lol .

I have never used perlite,vermiculite or promix. But they dont seem like very good mediums for ebb and flo. Promix is a soil isnt it? Seems like these mediums would wash away. Maybe I am wrong

I always use pots in my E&F tables. I dont think the bags will stay upright

I suggest pots with hydroton (what I use). I know others use rockwool and coco successfully as well

Medium grind Coco coir and 25% chunky perlite works very well.

You don't think promix & perilite would be a good mix to keep the flood times down ? as far as the bags staying upright .... they're square flat bottom bags & thats why i was askin if hydrotron in the bottom of the tray would help matters with keeping the bags up & in place as well as the roots having somewhere besides the bare tray to slosh around in . ...... no ?

Promix is a soil isnt it?

my understanding is promix is basicly ammended peatmoss with some beneficial microbes in it . a soilless mix .

My take is to use coco because it seems to have more ability to absorb and not release too much moisture, it doesnt attract pests and it will grow at a faster rate due to the air to the roots.The hydroton should be used at the bottom of the bags and maybe go with 3 gallon bags put enough to weigh them down so they dont float away. I like 6 inch hugo blocks w hydroton in the tray

No .. sorry SS , i'm running hempys now but my closet is set up to do ebb & flo at any time . was doing some research on different mediums to try in the tables . not really liking RW or cocco so was looking at other mediums . but if i do get set up ... i will get some pics up .
