Compost Tea micro emergency

Howdy all.

Been busy lately working on new projects.

Have a tea question.

I accidentally had the air pump aerating the tea turned off for 20 hours. It was definitely a bonehead move.

is the biological life DEAD, and is my tea POISON?

could I for example add more molasses as food and turn air pump back on and be okay, or is this a pour out and start again situation?

All educated opinions welcome!

Thanks again!

I'd toss it. Less agitation and cooler temps favor fungals but no agitation is a recipe for yuk.

turn the air on! and bubble away..

In the outdoor gardens we make tea in barrels and they sit for 48 hrs. then we use the tea.

but give it a sniff test. smells yummy and clean than its good to go!

:yeahthats

as long as it doesn't stink, it's fine.......the microherd is alive and well if your bubbling efforts produce foam on the top.......

UPDATE:

The tea smelled awesome as it always does, slight molasses / kelp / earth swirl...

So I turned the air on for a while, then used it up... Will report back!

Haha of course not. I have a bucket of water that I use to water my plants... I mix molasses and water together, and whip it furiously with a whisk to help evaporate off chloramine and chlorine, and then let the bucket sit aside to evaporate off additional chlorine. No aeration. I add all kinds of different stuff to this water, like, water that I used to cook beans, water that I used to soak seeds for sprouting, etc. Sometimes I even piss in it... just a lil. It sits around for days, and becomes really funky fruity sour smelling - my plants seem to love it! Try not to get too caught up with thinking that one method or philosophy on PlantCare is the correct one.

Just have tons of fun and give your plants tons of love, works for me!

I've had teas that were out just a little bit too long and nearly killed all of my plants. I feel that if you water your plants a lot, than an anaerobic mix can definitely hurt. no dissolved oxygen in water + no oxygen in soil= funky rhizosphere..

you can tell if its bad just by the smell... itll be sour and make your stomache turn instantly... but really no reason to risk it... just dump and redo....

A whole new reason to flush your plants, eh?

Not to mention the added bonus of providing cover for 'real growers' to walk around with a colostomy bag - "I grow dope and I'm collecting my nutes!"

That'd play in Pacoima and maybe even Santa Cruz........

well stop whipping! The reducing sugars in the molasses will neutralize the chlorine and chloramine.

Good god man, do you have a toilet? I'm not sure what's worse, peeing in the water bucket or aging it for smelling tests.

Well I guess if your having fun that way. I do hope your not growing for a patient (s)........scrappy

So, Final update.

My plants seem to love life. they have loved life since switching to AACT and organics last year's outdoor.

Thanks to all that have done the research before me. Compost tea is the bee's knees, and I'm a convert for life.

I think where I need to head is brewing with plants i grow for NPK rather than rely on poo from a bat cave 2500 miles away.

when you're doing it that way, think of life force instead of NPK, and enjoy being plugged in.
