Can I have my Light OFF for 36 Hours Before Bloom Cycle?

Hello,

I really need to get my light back onto a better schedule - meaning I need it on during the hours I am around to work on the garden & off when I'm not around....

So, when I switch from veg to bloom, I know I can leave the light off for 24 hours & 48 hours since i've done it before.

But, will I mess up the plants if I have a 36 hour dark period before turning the light to the 12/12 light schedule?

Thanks for your help asap

hey there teddy! there was a thread here about 36 hours lights off before going 12/12... cant seem to find it but from what i've read there, it seems that it hastens the start of flowering by up to 4 days? (went something like that)

It won't upset it but it also won't help. You're better off just transitioning the plant directly into the new lighting cycle. Time in the dark is time w/o energy input.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thank you guys. I am definitely relieved. Like I said, I had done 24 hours of darkness before the bloom cycle & 48 hours in the dark before the bloom cycle - just never an un-even amount of hours like 36.
I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't really need to switch the time of day the light will be on (and off)

I was just worried about leaving them in the dark for 36 hours - because of that extra 12 hours of darkness

I didn't want it to screw with the plants since I am changing the time of day the light will be on by 12 hours (Since a 24 or 48 hour dark period will not change the time of day the light comes on - it would still come on at its normal time of day just like during veg.).

But since I am having my light come on at a different time of day than it did while the plants were on 18/6 like I said I was nervous....

Oh, by the way, leaving your plants in the dark for 24 hours will help them to show buds about 5 days earlier - and if you can get the temperature to stay nice & even at like 60-65deg. too while they are in the dark that also helps.

I could have just gone 18 hrs instead of 36, that is true. The reason I opted for 36 was because this is the 1st time I have ever had to adjust my light cycle like this & I didnt know what would happen - but I figured since I had left them in the dark for 24 & 48 hrs before bloom with good results, just to be safe I thought I should give them at least 24hrs of darkness, since I had done that before.

But now that I know that I can just switch I will do things different.
