I was thinking about having a 6 bucket RDWC with a 55 gallon barrel. Is it possible to run a RDWC with a 55 gallon barrel as the reservoir?
it always seeks it's own level..a 55 gallon res can be used, but since the system drains at the level of the bottom of the bucket, you will need to consider the size, shape and placement of your res. My res has an average of 8-10 inches of water in it
you could easily do wt with a std 55 gallon drum if the majority of the drum was lower then the rdwc bucket.
I'm changing my res design next go round..wider and deeper, but not taller..I figure i have ten gallons in a 18 gallon rm tub..too small for my setup.
You would have to burry the 55 gallon drum to where when the drum is full that line is the same height as your buckets full.
What do you guys think about a pump like this for the RDWC, http://www.drillspot.com/products/1326567/Centrifugal_Pump_4YKP5_Centrifugal_Pump
Nothing for nothing but that doesn't look much different than the NON-SUBMERSIBLE 650gal per hour pump available form harbor freight for under $50.
The pump looks fine but way too pricey.
Every time i click on this thread expecting to see a single plant in a 55 gallon RDWC drum

I should probably change the tittie.
However.....that sounds like a great freaking idea for an outdoor grow
