UK Fungus Gnats products?

Hi all,

anyone know of an equivalent to mosquito dunks, or if in fact mosquito dunks are reatailed in the UK? Those yellow traps don't seem to be working.

Ta muchly.

i use this stuff - not cheep but i hardly see gnats at all if i water with it twice each grow. same active as dunks - Bacillus Thuringiensis

also you need to remember that gnats are a symptom of your soil being too wet for too long - so ease off on the watering and let the top of the soil get dry inbetween.

Thanks, managed to find it for a tenner. Can't ease up on watering, my plants are hungry. I mentioned those yellow fly traps not working, I tried pure orange juice in tubs, it goes gooey under the lights and catches them. Just need to kill of the larve now with bug of when it arrives.

id just buy some sand and you wont see them again

i use silver sand from hombase

put a 1-2 inch layer and they float to the top of medium geting cut up as they pass threw the sand

Thanks guys, ordered the cheaper stuff, asked before about those mosquito dunks but unavailable in the uk so hopefully this stuff will do the job coz them little bastards really rape your plants, very destructive. i will report how the stuff does in a thread when i use it.

Ive tried a fly traps & "Gnat off" they control gnats but doesnt eradicate them. Then I went for natural predators, Hypoaspis did the job. If you cant find them cheap them PM me.

I was reading the organic gardening catalogue the other day and i noticed they had a predator for Fungus Gnats (Sciard flies,Fungus Flies) called Hypoaspis, it says the adults and larvae on the larvae of the Fungus Gnat, it says one treatment lasts 4-5 months, so that should be plenty long enough for almost any grow.

Nilnat works. I had a heavy infestation and now I don't, I use a little every watering. I've tried neem compost, keeps them away for about 4 weeks, neem oil wasn't too good, but it's worth using in conjuction with nilnat to spray the top of the soil to pick off any adult gnats and sticky fly traps.
