Clear, clean, functional, long-lasting.

And EARLY, as in mid Sept. finish max, at, say, 43 N.

A lot to ask for? What, in your opinion, would come closest to filling these qualities? Indica or Sative-type effects, either one's okay, I'll sort em out later.

Are there any GG or GG crosses that might come close? Timewarp? I see lots of "smoke reports" like, "F'd me up good!", or "powerful, kicked my ass", but that don't really say much.

The title of the thread and the earliness say it all. If it's extremely potent as well, all the better, but quality is what it's all about, for me.

your answers can be found here....https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=47579
You basically have to ask yourself what kind of high you want.
Some folks like the couchlock, pain killing, sleep inducing indicas.
Others like myself prefer the sativas....up beat, thought provoking, sometimes racy.....gets you on your feet to do things.
To many variables are involved to give you a specific answer.
Good luck in your search.

Clear, clean and functional sounds like what I got from Mandalas Safari Mix. Very functional, not devastating in the least bit. They take lots of abuse and there was a wide variety of plants all with a similar stone. Some were racier than others. I prefer a heavy yet euphroic stone and these were more "put you in a good mood and do some housework" type buds. These were all pleasant plants to grow and I will grow more Mandala strains in the future. The stone was long lasting as well on my Safari plants.

If I lived at a much lower lattitude, I'd have a much larger field to select from. The safari mix, pure, is too unpredictable (flowering, finishing ) for me at 43N. I'll bet there's some gems to be found there, though...

What I'm curious about is the quality of extremely early strains - my goal is to find the best of THOSE strains, and breed them to strains I have now (flo, DC, MLI, M#1, SWT#4, BS2.2) to produce relatively early plants of the finest possible quality for this Lat.

You should head over to UDG they specialize in early strains for Northern growers and you could learn a lot about the crosses they have worked with. Also this years seeds are on sale now.

Can I buy direct from UDG, or are they on the bay sometimes?

Don't think C99 would finish early enough to bring down the flowering much on a hybrid. I'm talking EARLY, as in GG#3. Can't get any really in-depth smoke reports on GG#3's qualities, though, other than it's potent, but THC123 mentioned a few things about it that leads me to think it might be worth a shot.

Well, GG #3 is potent. Thats the smoke report! I dunno, its covered in trichs and it finishes earlier than pretty much anything but an autoflower around here. It is somewhat tricky to clone as they will autoflower a bit.

By itself, the GG I grew was pretty knockout. I used it sparingly for insomnia for many months. It had good mold and pest resistance and finished Sept 10th if I remember correctly. It was not a huge yielder, and the buds were not airy but not dense. I honestly don't remember the taste or smell, but I do remember it made me cough.

I've grown some crosses of GG also. GGxC99 was alright, it finished late Sept as I remember.

The best I've had was the Manitoba Medicine #2 which is (Freezeland bx X GG#2) x Guerilla Gold #3. You can't get them anymore, but Breederbrad is making something similar I believe, which I highly recommend. It has a fruity taste and is absolutely covered in trichs with amazing mold resistance. The yield was decent and the vigor was awesome. The calyx to leaf ratio was better than the straight GG too. It finishes Sept 15th.

IMO, GG by itself is worth picking up. It is the best early finisher you are going to find to breed to your other strains. It works the best when crossed to another early strain, especially when you are aiming for mid Sept @ 43.

Thanks Wisco, and thanks for the link. I'm looking forward to whatever BreederBrad comes up with.

Isn't the high from C99 a short-lived one?

Oh yeah, Wisco, would you also describe GG#3 as 'psychedelic', as BB's description does?

My cut of mosca negra C99 bx1 is not a short lasting high. I've been smoking it for a few months and its still a good couple hours.

I wouldn't consider the GG3 psychedelic, but then again I've done a lot of acid so I have a pretty high bar as far as that goes. The most psychedelic effects I really get from any weed is cyclical thoughts and "corner of the eye" hallucinations. The GG didn't really do that, its usually the real sativa leaning strains that do.

I hear ya. You're the 2nd C99 grower who's told me the high is not a short one.

I remember some Orange Sunshine tabs we picked up in FL @ '73 that produced the cleanest psychedelic exp. I've ever had. Everything else seemed like nasty crap compared to it. Utterly indescribable.

The guerilla gold #3 I grew two seasons ago put me in the bathroom floor hugging the comode.I puked for 10 minutes and have not smoked it since. However,I have not grown it again because everyone complained that it had no smell hardly at all and it doesn't to be honest. The early skunk from MR. nice will finish for you from the first week of sept til the 3rd week.It is a really nice zero problems type of outdoor strain that is pretty damn potent and smells to high hell.

Would the high on that E skunk tend to the confusing side of things or the clean side? Mid-sept's plenty early. Decent calyx/leaf ratio?
