What's new

Humboldt bud circa 1984 or 85

Would anyone here know what the predominate strain being grown was? I have some fond memories of light green, almost golf ball sized nuggets that I was told came from Humboldt.

It would be kind of fun to grow if it was still available.

I smoked some Humboldt indigo in -79 and man was that good weed! Got it at a Dylan concert from a real old fashioned hippie.

That Indigo might have been the most memorable pot I've ever smoked if we're talking the same....picked up an ounce in So Cal for 250.00 that summer....the most perfect pot i had ever seen as I was buying 400.00 pounds of colombian/?. I made that shit last 3 months. Smell look taste and incredible long lasting soaring buzz. Yes!

When I was in college we had a guy that would drive down to cali in the fall and buy a pound or so and then sell it off to a select few of us throughout the school year. It was killer weed.

I used to grow on a farm up in the hayward hills between '82 - '85 ~ 1000+ female plants.
we had red and purple hair sensi and skunk too that smelled like fresh road kill, the most potent strain of all.

all of them came from Humboldt growers,.
from what I gather it was NL.

^ man we are spoiled now in comparison.

imagine hanging out in 1984, in some dudes backyard, up in Mendocino telling you

"hey man you like growing. you know whats coming soon? this new bad ass computer thing called the internet. you you be able to chose from like a thousand strains.... and you just order them right up on that crazy new internet! I bet it's huge, it would like take up my whole garage man."

lol

my first encounter with sensi was in 1970 while i was stationed in marysville CA. it came in a nice glass jar and had a label that said humbolt (something). very classy. they were a very light green, medium length, kind of airy buds. it was delightful. the taste, the smell and the high were exceptional. so exceptional that i still remember it and smile. i bought 4 oz.

unfortunately, it was still a bit moist and a few days later i weighed what was 2 oz that i took out of a bottle and found that it was a few grams light. i suspected my roommate and/or friends. i'm glad i never accussed anyone. turns out that moist reefer drys in baggies!

i landed in thailand a year later and found out what getting high was really like. :)

it is bizarre. i'm in my 50s. the changes we've seen. good and bad.

it's nice that some get to use the weed medically, it's too bad that the growers and the stores rip them off so badly. $400 for an OZ that you grow legally? fucking thieves.

It's not really legal. City, county, state, and federal government make busts all the time. There is no logic behind it other than they wanna seem useful to prolong their bureaucracy. Also they like to rob the dispensaries by taking their product, and money.

The pigs are the real thieves
