to back up what Raque said - Building your own can work out great. Esp. if you make modifications - like size of the controller. But there is something good about the real deal also. If you are doing a fun project and the outcome will not matter then making your own system will be rewarding. If your balls are on the line Buy One. Saving $100 is not worth a critical mistake. And the store bought (blue) buckets are way better than any home made ones I have seen. They clean easier and that is worth the price of admission alone. Also all holes are the exact same level which helps. Something nice about plastic that is all smooth and molded. No grommet leaks, etc.
