PC Fan Question

What are you guys using (if anything) to control the speed of your PC fans? I've got two fans in my veg box, and both of them running all the time at 100% is overkill and way too loud.

I'm looking for the best way to be able to control their speed. Any advice you can give would be great. I'm just using a standard ac to dc adapter cut up and spliced to the 2 fans.

Awesome fuzz thank you! Those are the same fans I'm using. How did you wire yours? I've already stripped the molex connectors from mine.

edit: After looking at the pic I'm pretty sure I can figure it out. It looks like you can just chop the molex connectors off the rheostat and place it red to red black to black between the fan and power supply leads. That was exactly what I was looking for bro.

What i did, was had a spare power supply sitting around. I cut the leads off of that and soldered them to my 12vdc 5amp power supplies, and i keep the standard plugs in functioning order with the speed controllers. The fans were pretty expensive so i didnt want to cut the molex ends, so i just added the molex ends to my powersupplies

Hmm, I guess I could always put them back on. Those fans were expensive... I'll let you guys know how it works out. I ordered 2 of the rheostats so I'll know what I'm doing when they get here in a couple days. Thanks again

Just in case anyone was interested... those rheostats worked like a charm! They came with one male and one female molex connector on each end. I just chopped them off and ran one wire from each to the power supply, and one wire from each to each fan. Exactly what I needed. I'll post pics of the finished product in a new thread when I get everything set up.

I use a Zalman Fanmate for my exhauster (single rheostat) and a SilenX 4 channel controller for the inside fans.

I've noticed the rheos get pretty hot when you're running them. Any ideas on how to mount them safely? Right now they are just hanging from my wire nuts on the back of my cab. I haven't done a full test run on it yet, but I'm concerned they'll get way too hot just hanging back there. These particular rheostats don't seem to have any mounting hardware attached to them :/ What do you do fuzz? Since you have the same ones I do.
