Spider mites...Scrog....15 days into flower....Hotshot pestrips???`

Hey everyone,

Doing a scrog and cannot move my plants....very bush with lots of leaves and I am finding mites. I plucked about 15 leaves tonight and put a hotshot in there. The plants already have nice size buds so i hate to put the hotshot in there, but as packed as it is in there and not being able to get to the leaves effectively i cannot think of a better way.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also i have an exaust fan that cools my room that has to be on, but its off 12 hours a day. My room is only 3.5x4 so I'm hoping the pest strip will still even work.

Thanks

Fuck it put 2 in there. They work good, but if you grow a scrotum under your arm 20 years from now it was either the, strips or somethung..
Some say not to use them but I have, dont anymore but I would if I needed to. I am sure you will get all kinds of takes on it, good luck.
You could get some lady bugs...

Ive never had to deal with bugs but if i did i would start by making sure everything around me is clean and they i would research the best sprays to use. Pretty sure Hotshots strips are more of a preventive maintence step. I dont think they are a cure once you already have the bugs. Good luck bud!

I love them hotshots...Very much not good for you, but they do work well.
However heir effectiveness goes way down after a couple weeks, I *try* to remember to pull them out for the last couple weeks before chop, but it never happens

Go with a fogger it will kill the bugs but not the eggs. I have used hotshots but not in bloom. I use spinosad. Helps to control them and is OMRI approved.

AVID - mite killer chemical.

AVID - mite killer chemical.

On the war of the dreaded spider mite, ive one grand word for ya called = AVID - This is a very strong chemical you need a licence to buy like a farmer would, its the ONLY thing about that can kill and keep dem mites at bay for atleast 6-12 months before they show up again,as they do,
Thing is with being a chemical it has NO IL effects on the plants or finished product either, ive used this for 3 years now and il never go back to anything else unless its just as good that is,

Plus using avid at 1mil per litre you dont need to clean out the gro area if ya pushed for time etc, spraying the plants&pots keeps em at bay for a good period of time as ive said.

hope this helps, if ya can get it it might!

Neem oil. If you want even more combine the neem oil and spinosad that hank mentioned. Myself I use a spray that has neem, spinosad, and potassium salts(one of the safer products.) Mix everything in luke warm water and spray down the leaves making sure you constantly agitate the bottle to keep the oils from creaming. Also make sure you spray the bottoms of the leaves. For hard to reach ones use a sponge to wipe the spray on and wipe eggs and mites off.

spinosad works very well on spider mites I would skip the neem for flowering plants unless an unpleasant taste isn't an issue
not knocking neem oil its great stuff just not for flowering plants.

He is early in flowering growshopfrank. I spray my first 2 or 3 weeks of flowering myself. When the plant starts to bud up I stop.

I'd hit them twice with azamax, if there is still at least 5 weeks left before harvest.

Another way to slow them down is to mist the plants with water. Not sure if your conditions allow for that.

ive decided against hot shot strips after long consideration. Putting such a toxic chem is up to you.
I suggest azamax and ladybugs in flower. You can use azamax till the end just focus on the leaves and not saturating the buds. I used it @ 6 weeks flower and my buds tasted fine. If there not webbing the buds yet you can mostly just spray under leaves

i changed my mind when we used the trim to make edibles and i thought about the hot shot strips. This is our sacred plant.

Spider mites are a mother fucker, here is a recipe that will knock them down.

All sprays are organic and need to be used in rotation with each other and ph'd around 6.0-6.3 before spraying. Use a wetting agent like SM-90 or Coco Wet to get an even spread.

SNS 217

Pyganic 1.4

Azamax

Safer Insecticidal Soap

Organic Neem Oils.

Rotate these sprays applying every other day, all can be used up to day of harvest. If used late in flower, rinse buds before trimming.

Hope this helps

put a fresh one in flower.. pull out for harvest and put it in my cloning/veg area.. i may get a scrotum in my armpit, asshole, eyebrow, or whatever but the shit works

thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I've had a hotshot in the room for the last 2 days and still finding more leaves with mites and still see them moving around (just a 1-3 on each infected leaf i find).

I have a 3.5x4' closet with a 600 and i have a pretty heavy duty exaust fan on to keep the room from getting too hot. I really am hoping these hotshots will still work within the next few days. Currently i am just picking off any infected leaves that i find.

has anyone tried with a hotshot in a room that had heavy exaust system? I cant turn my fan off and as I've said, its a Scrog so its really hard to get in there and spray leaves.

i think i may just try the dr doom fogger.

Hot shots won't work if your exhaust is on constantly..out not very well in my experience..
