I am going to be in Ireland soon with the intent of researching moving there. Any ideas of chill places to check out while there? Where do the heads hang out?

Cheers

Hi Merkaba. Where in Ireland are you intending on visiting? There is a multitude of things to do and see but it all depends on what your interested in and where your planning on going. So if you want ananswer youl have to be a lil more specific.

What exactally do you mean by "the heads" ??

there's 'heads' wherever you go.I recently moved to a remote location on the West coast of Ireland and it didn't take long to bump into a few.Really depends on what you're looking for i.e near a big city for social life, gigs and stuff or more remote for growing opportunities and scenery. It's a big place and there's pros and cons to whatever type of location you wanted to settle in.

I am looking more for growing opportunities, communities, etc. Like the West Coast of the US. I am going to be in Dublin, Galway,Westport and Cork.....I guess I am just wondering where that family vibe is ;)

I love Northern Ireland. But thats just because i have friends there. I wish i could move up there, no cops to worry about. I think there are more cops in my whole county, than there is in N. Ireland....

Wish it wasn't so hard to move there....

Growing opportunities are plentiful, the average smoker over here doesn't have a clue what good weed is,most of them will happily pay 50 euros for 2.5 grams of damp commercial weed and the hash scene is no better.
Hash over here is either soapbar or fake polm, think a lighter shade of soapbar with no bits of plastic inside it that comes in slabs not bars and you'll get the idea.
Around 200 euros an oz for something that has a thc content which cant be more than 5-6%...thats just a guess but i'm probably not far off.

If you can grow good weed thats clean and dry you will have no problems selling it thats for sure.

As far as communities are concerned are Ireland is nothing like the west coast of the USA, you may find that Irish growers are quite secretive and extremely paranoid, you wont find people meeting up to share clones or seeds over here.

What are you doing about lights and grow gear?
Growshops over here are a total rip off, and unless you dont mind paying through the nose your going to have to order everything online and have it delivered.

Of the places your going to Cork is probably the best place to visit, Cork people are half mad but they are great fun and the friendliest people on earth.

Enjoy the trip and I hope all goes well for ya

I'm curious what county you're in mate.I just moved to donegal from N.I. and I rarely see the garda. Was sick of the sight of cops in Northern Ireland and although I do miss the social scene to a degree I'm way happier out in the sticks with no neighbours nosying about and I can do what I want with no helicopters hovering overhead either.

mate if you've never been to Ireland you're going to love it--that family vibe is everywhere--people are so friendly.Personally I like the west coast better. I'm not too far from Galway.I like rural areas myself--had enough of living in a terraced house--my nearest neighbour now is 500 yards away and there are no helicopters--no planes and very few garda

I am actually heading straight to the west coast pretty much...Westport, then Galway....any spots to check out in particular? Thanks...oh yeah, what's the best way to find a house? Craigslist doesn't seem to be so popular there. Do you guys have basements? Garages? Workshops? Ill be shipping a container with all my gear i suppose...

daft.ie for house's also gumtree, not many basements here, its a specialty build that often ends badly in the long run

munster definitely has a strong vibe, Galway too, most beautiful places anyway

I agree with burning red especially on the cop aspect

was told recently some guys paying 500 an ounce:yikes:

exactly mate---don't be flashy--keep the head down and do your thing

don't know what it's like down in Galway or Westport for finding a house but there are literally thousands lying empty in Donegal due to the financial crash.Take your pick up here

aye basements are virtually non existent here---workshops and garages you can find though

Is that changing country's to try and find one or changing country's to get away from one :)

Just like Burning says "don't be flashy--keep the head down and do your thing"

You do need to be aware that neighbors in rural Ireland are very curious about who moves into "their" area.
Your neighbors are going to want to know who you are and what you do, some sort well planned cover story will be necessary.
We're a friendly bunch and you may expect some of the neighbors welcoming you into the area by turning up at the door step with a bottle of wine and expecting to be welcomed in for a drink and a tour of the house.

Oh and I hate to say this but if your Asian looking and a single male renting a property with more than one bedroom then you will automatically be high up on the list of suspected growers.
Every 3rd or 4th week in the news is a story of some Vietnamese grow house bust.... Google vietnamese cannabis factories Ireland and you will see what I'm on about..

Best of luck with the move and I hope you settle in well

hahaha, no, not asian...they have been pulling that shit on the West Coast for years and years. I have heard from my lady friend how "curious" folks are there, I am a fairly amicable fellow, so I don't think that should be a problem. Now it's just finding the outlet for the finished things ;)

Finding a trust worthy outlet may be difficult task for someone new to the area with no contacts.

Paramilitaries and criminal gangs should be avoided at all costs!!

This woman must be f**king amazing. Trust me, if you are from west coast USA you'll hate Ireland.
This place has:-
Shit weather. After your first winter you'll leave.
Shit job situation. I should know I'm trying to find one.
Shit politics (but then I'm from Belfast).

It has f**k all going for it. Trust me on this one. Don't come here.
Throw some money at an attorney and get her a green card.

If she insists on coming here then dump her.

I hate it here.
