Is it possible that this is because of my digital ballast? The noise worries me a lot since i think with my luck it will blow out. The noise goes away for a little if i tap the bulb or the reflector.

Anybody with a similar experience and digital ballast?

If the noise is coming from your ballast, then it is the problem. But if it's coming from the bulb or reflector, which is what I'm gathering, then it is most likely coming from the bulb itself. Does it sound almost like a faint ringing-bell sound? You can hear that when you take a brand new bulb right out of the box and gently shake it. So if it bothers you, just try to find out what's causing the vibration and then try to dampen it.

My bulb does that some times too. It just goes in and out. I usually don't care though. When the closet door is closed it can't be heard. The vibrations are coming from the shaky dayton blower my cool tube is hooked up to.

Its a digital ballast, but not coming from the ballast.

The sound is coming from the lamp, and sound like an electronic buzz. There are no vibrations coming from the fixture, it is all from the bulb as i have isolated the noise. It comes and goes but just doesn't seem right to me. My reflector is grounded also.

I take it this is what people mean about the hertz problems with digi's.
