A little confused... Anyone Use Neoprene Collars (those black things for cloning)?

I'm thinking of making an Aeroponics EZ cloner using those Neoprene collars. Once the root forms how do I transport that into a netpot to put into my DWC? Do I even need to put it into a net pot? Don't I need something to hold the plant out of the water? would the collar do it by itself? do I need to transplant it to rockwool afteR?

Save some $ - get a 3/4 inch pipe insulating noodle from home depot and cut them yourself, roll it snug around the stem and stick in the hole you hole-drilled in the bucket lid(or rubbermaid). With aero, make the collar at least 1 1/2 inches long. For my diy bubble cloner, 3/4 inch lengths worked. Just a 3 gallon tub with holes in the lid and 2 airstones. EZPZ method 20/20 rooted, 2 were buds cut shortly before harvesting.

Just put the roots into a netpot with hydroton and into the DWC. No need for RW.

The neoprene collars are cheap and they last almost forever! When they get dirty - tie them into a sock - wash them in hot water in the washing machine and dry them on high. Almost good as new. When your plants have roots about two to three inches long, take them out of the cloner and out of the collar. Slip the roots through the webbing in the bottom of the net pot and add medium of choice. You generally need the net pot to hold up the plant from slipping down into the res as it gets older and heavier. Hope his helps

here's a few pics hope they help a bit when you make your cloner if you do it so you can tranplant the netcups aswell as the coller to which ever system you use then you dont desturb the new roots then remove collor when plants are settled into there new home just put new netcups in your cloner ready for the next go and if you carnt get netcups get 40mm waste t joints and make your own as shown in pics hope yhis helps a little
take it easy and keep it green cheers EASY

ps in one pic you can see r/w thats just there on the fogger cloner to keep stems damp between fog cycle

If you have access to them I would just pick up the neoprene inserts and 2" net pots at your hydro shop. 35 of the inserts cost me 17 bucks if my memory serves me right and the net pots were .19 a piece.

Netpots are not required. They are simply a convenience to prevent plants from falling into the tub. Without them, however, you'll need some sort of support above the tub such as strings, ScrOG or trellis. If you want, you can do the entire grow with neoprene plugs. Just make sure their diameter is greater than the stalk will be at harvest so the tub lid doesn't cut into the stalk.

Rockwool starter cubes (1") are acceptable for starting seeds and clones as they'll get ripped to shreds as the plant grows. Anything larger defeats the purpose of DWC which is maximizing airflow to upper roots. A netpot full of Rockwool will minimize airflow to upper roots.
