JR Peters makes a 2 part dry formula that cost me 2.5 cents per gallon including shipping to CO.

It is not the same formula as Maxi but I honestly believe it works better. If you are interested in taking a look let me know and I will post info. If you wanna see some plants grown with it check out the myth of the high P myth thread...there are some pics.

A formula similar to the JR Peters formula buying the salts from Custom Hydro cost about the same and allows me to reduce N the further into flower I go. tester is right...with 5 or so salts and a micro package you can make a bunch of formulas.

Do not worry about pharm grade chemicals...hell we are dissociating things to ionic form in the res anyways. Just don't buy something that has a lot of contaminates and you will be fine...the pharm grade is just some companies bullshit advertising lies.

Either one of those paths will work...as will Maxi (lots of grows prove that). It kinda depends on what you are comfortable with.

Silica Blast is a little bit of potassium silicate, little bit more sodium silicate and a lots of water with only 2% "Silica" content. (As written on the brochure)
Silica might refer to Si or SiO2, I will take it as Si for now, it's better for Botanicare, that would mean it has a higher Si content. There is a statement in the same brochure that 5ml / 4 liter will give 105 ppm silicate, but I could not get the same number nor for Si, Silicate, or silica.

And it must also contain about 3% Na, because Potassium silicate can only make up a fraction from the total Si content (must stop at 0.5% K2O as stated on the label, the rest of Si have to come from the other salt, sodium silicate that also adds Na).
That's 40 PPM of Na if used at the given amounts (5ml/4L)

I don't see any point using sodium silicate other than it's cheaper than potassium silicate.

Try to look for potassium silicate around there, for example under this name:

Agsil 1 lbs for 12$
32% K2O (= 26.56% K)
52.8% SiO2 (= 24.7% Si)

Silica Blast 1 quart for 13$
0.5% K2O (0.415% K)
4.3% SiO2 (= 2% Si)

Huge difference between the two in terms of price and Si content, not to mention that you will know exactly what nutes are your plants get, not like with Silicablast.
