nutrient confusion.

i have been contemplating this post for some time as i know it is a question that usually gets the response of. use the search function. but what i am looking for here are people using a similar setup to me to post what their nute recipies are. this is to help me on my path to dialage.

i have been at this for a few years now and i have been constantly changing shit in order to seperate fact from fiction and find the sweet spot. because i have changed soo many things between grows i am unsure what role my nutes have been playing.

THE ROOM- the room is sealed 8 x 10 with 2 1000's in sealed hoods. CO2 is a fuzzy set at 1100 ppm. system is a 5 gal ebb and flow bucket system all hydroton fed every 2 hours at peak flower.

THE NUTES- i started with botanicare cuz thats what i was sold when i started. it seemed to be great minus the weay all the organics seem to fall out of solution and turn into a layer of kelp on the bottom of the res. i switched from this to dutchmaster after a cycle of root rot but it was because of the hygrozyme not the botanicare. i have tried several cal mags,silicas, and b-1 products. but like i said i have been changing shit constantly so i dont really have a good feel for any of them.

THE SCHEDULE- my current schedule is
BLOOM calmag 1 ml/gal,
Bloom silica 1 ml/gal
SM-90 3 ml/gal
liquid karma 5 ml/gal
dutch master A&B start at 4ml up to 15 at week 8
KoolBloom powder 1/4 dose week 4 up to full dose at week 8

i have been thinking of switching back to botanicare full line or the full techniflora line. or head formula with a little tweaks. but im sick of experimenting. so anyone running an all hydroton ebb and flo please post your recipies and some pics to go with them.

Hydroton top drip here. Same thing as ebb and flow pretty much. I wasn't a fan of ebb and flow though..

Don't have pics, but have been using Lucas formula for a long time and one you switch you will never go back assuming you are doing everything correctly.. If I actually vegged I would probably be tweaking it to match Mel Franks stages of growth more closely, but since I don't veg I don't worry.

Lucas is pretty much head formula and that is one thing inwas considering however I'm feeling it's lacking the little extras. I'm looking to squeeze every last bit of dialage out of this room.

Floranovabloom, florolicious bloom, at the lucas ratio, plus 5ml cal mag, period. No extra bullshit. Veg in situ under big lights before the flip, new bulbs every second bloom.

Or keep wading through the mud looking for a sweet spot.

I swap my bulbs every 6 months. And I've dialed the lights, eviro, & every aspect of a grow room except nutes. Last run was over 1 gram/watt but I still feel like I'm jut winging it in the nute department.

Wow Bro........just found this.......So sorry you`ve had problems and even crop failure with 1 of the most bulletproof setups ever known to God and man.......But if you`re doin 1 gpw , things can`t be all THAT bad huh ?.......

Dialage comes from simplicity my buddy......That means GH 3 part with a lil SM-90 for root born pest possibilities, and silicablast for stem wall strength.....

All I ran for well over 5 yrs with DIY ebb and flow 5 gal buckets in flip rooms side by side at 4 locations perpetual , and over 8 yrs before that with SWC krusty buckets FTW.............

Heathie versed me way back on ppm`s around 600-750 max throughout each cycle , and once I dialed it in ..........Well the rest was history......

Floranova is GH`s most concentrated shit and will fall out of suspension and precipitate leavin all the good shit on the bottom`s of rez`s while cloggin pumps and feed equipment on a regular basis IME from what I`ve witnessed over the yrs.......

Sounds like all that other shit you were runnin did the same thingy as well.....

KISS......Hell........Been shutdown almost couple yrs and was just seein how GH`s "maxibloom" powder is as close to the so-called Lucas formula on a 1 part cheap as shit nutrient regimen with little to no additives required as well....just be wary of deficiencies running lower concentrations without constant watch in fast hydro setups......

Once I went to coco the last 3 yrs or so I grew , the only thing that was required was Cal/Mag plus due to coco`s cation exchange ratio........Other than that , GH3 part`s always been good to me and my plants with no problems.....

Thanks DHF. You have already helped me more than you know. The crop never actually failed just a bloom of brown slime followed by a little rot but I limped that 1 out. Lucas/head with silica & a lil koolbloom was 1 of my next routs. What is your opinion on things like "kelp,B-1,hummics,fulvics,& carbs" seems people rave about these but my planned scHesile is missing all of the above.

Glad yas harvied without losses......I got taught old school with GH 3 part 1/2 strength for lower ppm`s and dialage across the boards Huge.........after runnin it full strength on big plants , that is......

IOW.....GH 3 part says 3 parts grow , 2 parts micro , and 1 part bloom for veg.......the exact opposite for bloom as in 1-2-3 grow , micro , and bloom...

Worked well with my krusty buckets and big plants , but the first run of my ebb and flow buckets was only lookin for 2 1/2 oz plants instead of 2 1/2 lber`s so I cut the juice in half , and things worked out.......

Kept the SM-90 and silicablast for general purpose , and 1/2 strength worked in my ebb and flow buckets with dialed results for over 5 yrs.....Less is more...

Got no opinions on those additives cuz I`ve never used em.....Might be great.......dunno...

Head's formula is Lucas formula modified for Coco.

And Lucas/ Franks isn't lacking anything, its just giving your plants a lot of shit they don't need

i was in the same boat as you huge. i run flood and drain in 2 gl buckets and have always tried to figure out what was the best shit to use. i finally found maxibloom works best with sm90 and calmag. week 5 i add koolbloom powder. i keep my ec at around 1.4-1.6 and things look great. pretty cheap to.

It has the humic acid you need to help the girls be all they can be, increases health, flavors and scents. What DHF said about fnb having sediments is true. I mix it real well, and add it to a dedicated holding res with air, and I get minimal clumps, not enough to make a dent on my pump filters. This is my fortieth year toking, and my flowers are the best I have ever tasted, that is why I do not try any other nutes. I am sure they could be just as good, but I am stoned and smilin, eh?

I agree with what DHF is telling you. I switched from ebb & flow / hydroton to hempy bucket (all with gh 3 part+ LK) and now on to KISS method (maxi + epsom salt) with no change in growth rate. Only change is whats left in my wallet and on my clock. Good luck!
