Is mixing water w/ Root Hormone powder (butryic acid) viable??

the title sums it up pretty well. i am wondering what the efficacy, if any, would be attributed to adding or mixing rooting powder w/ water when watering cuttings in soil/peat pellets/any substrate. would this help to hasten the root formation process? or, is dipping the cutting as far as the powder goes or works or the only way to use the powder? i am trying to ascertain whether there could be any drawbacks, as well. if it would kill the cutting, i wont try it. but, if nobody knows or has not tried it yet, i am willing to test it out. i just do not want to do something someone already knows will hurt, kill or do nothing to said cutting's root formation progression. thx all,

good question. i assume so, when water is applied to the powder, it does dissipate. remember, this is butryic acid found in most common rooting hormone powders, not pure butryic acid.

yea, i have never used the liquid or gel form myself. just the typical lowes/HD rooting hormone powder w/ a yellow top, lemme see....its called Green Light rooting hormone & its powder. its active ingredient is butryic acid. i am going to pour some in an actual glass of water. just a little bit & see what really happens. i have noticed it immediately shrinks when it comes in contact w/ water. i just have never tried dissolving it in a cup of water. ill fill it up only a 1/4 of the way. place a tspn at most of the powder & see what happens. ill check pH too this way. i tried googling if this powder is soluble or not, but came up w/ nothing of use.

From wikipedia:
IBA is a plant hormone in the auxin family and is an ingredient in many commercial plant rooting horticultural products.
For use as such, it should be dissolved in about 75% (or purer) alcohol (as IBA does not dissolve in water), until a concentration from between 10,000 ppm to 50,000 ppm is achieved - this solution should then be diluted to the required concentration using distilled water. IBA is also available as a salt, which is soluble in water. The solution should be kept in a cool, dark place for best results.

so whats the best way to make a clone start to root dip the end of your cutting in the liquid or gel and let set for a few days? I'm unsure of the process and was wondering if yall could be so kind as to inform me how it works beging to end and how much time has gone by from the point you cut and dip it to the time they root and are planted in soil or whatever medium you use.

I use rootone powder and it works just fine. Take your cutting, dip the cut end in water and dip the wet stem in the rooting powder. Thump off excess powder and insert into your rooting cube, plug, etc.

Lola has a powder/ky jelly mix that makes gel if you prefer but the powder works just fine. Her thread is around here somewhere. Check the search.

would i wet up the medium like rockwool ect before i stick the cuttin with the rootin hormone on it in it? Also how soon typically do you see roots after the application of th RH.
